Violence is Not the Answer

There is only one appropriate reaction to the murder of Dr. Tiller: condemnation.

No statements about whether or not he had time to make himself right with God, no questions about whether or not he had put himself in harm's way. No one deserves to be killed in cold blood. This is not a battlefield. No matter how frustrated one may be about the fight for the preborn, no matter how many lives are lost to the tragedy of abortion -- it does not serve our cause, nor help anyone in the long run to turn to maniacal acts.

In fact, it is the very idea that another single person is the cause of troubles that perpetuates the deaths of over 3,000 little souls every day. Over one million times every year, a woman believes that killing the child within her is the solution to her troubles.

If those deaths are wrong, so is this one. Our cause, and the world in general, would be better served if we all championed the value of every person -- or at least the potential of every person.

Who knows? Dr. Tiller could have been the next Dr. Nathanson.

Dr. Bernard Nathanson was the doctor who first persuaded the leaders of women's groups to fight for abortion. He later had an epiphany, denounced his actions, and is now one of the most relevant voices in the pro-life movement.

Maybe not. Maybe Dr. Tiller would have gone to his grave with the delusion that he was helping women. Despite all the evidence to the contrary -- for instance, that pro-life doctors have testified that they have never come across a single case where a pregnant woman's life or health was threatened that could not be treated in a manner that allowed both mother and child to have a chance.

Despite the fact that all the ills that abortion is supposed to cure are instead growing exponentially. Despite the evidence that abortions -- especially late-term ones -- haunt women and cause them mental duress. Despite the fact that an unknown number of those late-term abortions are performed for reasons that are only discovered to be incorrect when it is far too late -- instead of a "monster" emerging from the womb, a perfect little child is delivered who had the misfortune of a "false-positive diagnosis."

But you never know. Hearts and minds can be changed. If we stress the value of motherhood, support women in their times of crisis, extol the value of every person no matter what their challenges may be, show that there is always a better answer than abortion, and point out that some choices are wrong no matter how long you think about them or how many professional opinions you seek or how certain you think you are in a time of incredible pressure that this is what is "best"...

Stand up, be strong, speak your mind, do good works to help support women and children -- but do not resort to violence.

Mr. Roeder IS a HERO in my book.

He has sacrificed his future in order to save the lives of many more unborn babies. The pendulum is swinging. You may need to decide which side you’ll be on in the future...Those silenced by political correctness or those with the courage of their convictions to stand up and forcefully confront the dark forces of this world.

The time is fast approaching when this self-rightousness that you and others espouse, in which you advocate doing nothing but soft whimperings (and in fact indirectly defend evil men) in light of continued butcherings so that you can look ‘nobel’ to your political correct trainers and masters, will paint you as an accomplice and apologist for the evil men and women of this world....and may it not rest kindly upon your head.

not sure what your question was...

i’m not convinced to any degree that Tiller being shot will cost anymore lives

right now less are being killed in his “clinic”, that’s for sure

Ah...there is no truth to you Moran. That is your problem. Everyone’s opinion has equal validity. You are apparently lost.

Is the “value” of the person cutting off the arm of a toddler on the playground of sufficient balance against the toddlers “value” that it would mire you in indecision as to what to do? Not I. They'd be whipping that asshole’s brains off the slide. Making a decision is difficult. Sitting on a fence rendering noble sounding virtues is unacceptable.

MORE INNOCENT life being taken?? You think Tiller innocent? Wow. Colors are showing.

Actually quite the opposite. Being as last I heard only 3 ‘doctors’ in the US crush and suck infants brains...tiller one of them...we have netted an approximate 33% reduction of baby mutilations today and for the near future. ALSO, an effective deterrent has been demonstrated for those monsters who would like to break into the practise as well. I hardly think innocent is a correct term to link to people who immerse themselves in a profession of infant butchering.

A job well done Mr. Roeder!!

IMHO, the evil is one and the same.

Having said that, I support all effots to educate and bring people around and I pray we can accomplish the end goal by those means.

I personally believe that that also involves exposing the ghstly, harsh, reality of what abortion is and does. Without understning that, people are easily subverted by the liberl PC speak, such as "pro-choice", a woman's right to choose, ending "unwanted" pregnancies, and the like.

That subversion and PC speak is burned away in the harsh light of one look at what they are saying an individual has a "right" to choose (ie. a ghastly, violent, horrific genocide), and those pictures demonstrate that in a way no discusion could.

Bottom line is — killing Tiller may have seemed expedient and “righteous” to his killer and others, but in the end it only hurts the pro-life cause and probably will lead to even more deaths of innocent children.

And seriously — if you were to say that you felt you were living a moral life, would it be fair to offer you the same response? Obviously there are those who rationalize what you and I believe to be immoral behavior — but don’t dare drag me down with them. You and I may have a disagreement on certain specifics, but I would never compare you to them.

I am not aware of “24” or Jack Bauer. Is this something from cable TV (which I don’t have)?

In disclaiming violence, do you contend that justice and “violence” are mutually exclusive?

What I find abhorrent is that Tiller’s killer may (how can I know the killer’s motive for sure) have felt compelled to act because a “justice” system not only refused to protect people from violent acts, but actively protected the baby killer’s “legal” right to commit murder.

The “rule of law” is something worthy of being upheld only when its values have some semblance to, or congruity with, natural law and the laws of God.

If you don’t believe that, then you will perhaps condemn our founding fathers for their Declaration of Independence and the following acts of the Revolutionary War. Do you “sorrow” on or “celebrate” the 4th of July?

Borrowing the founding father’s lingo,

1. Everyone has a God given right to LIFE.

2. The government’s job is to protect that.

3. An unjust government opposes the “Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God.”

4. “That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.”

5. “But when a long train of abuses and usurpations...”

What would you call the killing of 50,000,000 innocent American babies...what would God call it?

Our courts of law, most notably the HIGHEST (human) court of law has found every unborn child in the land guilty of a capital offense, and decreed they only be allowed to live if their mother issues them a pardon and carries them to FULL TERM...AND delivers them alive.

Our children were nor afforded the luxury of a legislature OR a jury, they were sentenced to death by judicial fiat.

Retaliatory Violence is the answer when someone else initiates the violence.

Just decrying violence and using this as a prop is no way to win the argument.

Late term abortion kills a human. Period.
