The above ad appeared in several national newspapers this week including the The Wilmington News Journal on page A18, Thursday, May 28, 2009, and The Riverside Press. The ad is in support of the Chrysler National Dealer Council. Exit82 reported:
The ad is a full page and reads like a BS account of why the elimination of dealers was necessary, good for Chrysler, so sorry it had to happen to some of our friends, blah, blah, blah.
I believe this ad was part of a nationwide ad buy in many papers because it is written to a antional audience.
My BS meter pinged immediately.
The following people/dealers were listed at the bottom of the ad, supposedly supporting it. We should study the list to see the if they were retained and what party they donated to:
Mickey Anderson Baxter Chrysler Jeep Dodge Omaha, NE
Jim Arrigo Arrigo Dodge Chrysler Jeep West Palm Beach, FL
Sid DeBoer Lithia Chrysler Jeep Dodge, Inc.(Bingoa Lithia member) Medford, OR
Chuck Eddy Bob & Chuck Eddy C-D-J Austintown, OH
Hayden Elder Elder Chrysler Dodge Jeep Athens, TX
Charlie Foulke Cherry Hill Dodge Cherry Hill, NJ
Bill Golling Golling Chrysler Jeep, Inc. Bloomfield Hills, MI
Carlos Hidalgo Folsom Lake Dodge Folsom, CA
Mike Lowry Allen Samuels Dodge North Richland Hills, TX
Bill McSkimming River Front Chrysler Jeep North Aurora, IL
Jon Myers Naples Dodge and Chrysler Naples, FL
Eric Nielsen Franklin Sussex Auto Mall Sussex, NJ
Andy Palmen Palmen Motors, Inc. Kenosha, WI
Gary Panteck Brunswick Auto Mart, Inc. Brunswick, OH
John Schenden Pro Chrysler Jeep Thornton, CO
Bill Shepherd Greenbrier Chrysler Jeep Chesapeake, VA
Joel Sporn Westbury C-J Westbury, NY
The ad also announced a website called ChryslerDealerSupport.
Smith6450 discovered this:
Heres what I found on the dealers on the list:
1. Mickey Anderson is a GOP donor. 2. Carlos Hidalgo and McSkimming gave no money to candidates, but their local Dodge competitors will be closed down. They will each be the only chrysler dealers in their areas. 3. John Myers gave no money to candidates, but their local Jeep competitor will close. Myers will be the only local Chrysler dealer in the area.
Since 2007, the following dealers gave money to candidates:
1. Jim Arrigo gave $3,300 to Ron Klein (D) 2. Chuck Eddy gave $500 to John Boccieri (D) 3. Charles Foulke gave $6,900 to Robert Andrews (D) and $6,300 to various Democrats from 1994-2000 4. Andrew Palmer gave $750 to Russ Feingold (D) and $500 to Paul Ryan (R) 5. John Schenden gave $900 to Joan Fitz-Gerald (D)
So the democratic dealers who were left untouched and those dealers who lost local competitors support the Chrysler closings. What a shock!

Kudos!
Since they are profiting from their taxpayer-financed government-created monopoly, they are happy as clams. This Dodge family will never buy another product from any Chrysler dealer. We are switching to Toyota products.
.....you local government voting to kick you and several taxpayers off your own land so they can build a mega-condo to rake in more tax money (as the excuse for eminent domain).
In both cases, the aggrieved payed money into the organization that worked against them.
If it is at all possible to get a copy of the donor information used in the above analysis, I will be able to map the Democrat donors to nearby closures.
Freepmail me for email addy. Thanks!

Republican Donors Hit by Chrysler Closings
##3
Excerpt:
Among the most prominent Republicans who stands to lose his business as a result of the Chrysler bankruptcy is Vernon G. Buchanan, owner of Venice Dodge in Venice, Fla.
Buchanan gave $2,300 to John McCain in last years election, and has given a whopping $5.3 million to Republicans since the 2000 election cycle, according to FEC records Newsmax examined.
He spent nearly $4.5 million of that amount to get himself elected to Congress in 2006 in the 13th District of Florida, where incumbent Republican Katherine Harris resigned that year to run unsuccessfully for U.S. Senate.
Buchanan won the 2006 election with just 50 percent of the vote but came back in 2008 and won a more comfortable victory with 56 percent of the vote, and voted against Obamas budget this year. But he has crossed aisles occasionally, notably voting in favor of an expansion of the State Children’s Health Insurance Program that President Bush vetoed in 2007.
Other prominent Republican donors whose successful Chrysler dealerships will be shut down include Russ Darrow, owner of Darrow Chrysler Jeep of Menomenee Falls, Wis. Darrow spent $2.7 million of his own money to finance an unsuccessful challenge to incumbent Democratic Sen. Russell Feingold of Wisconsin in 2004.
Many dealers, however, gave to both political parties; some, such as Alan Spitzer, owner of Spitzer Dodge in Elyria, Ohio, gave only to Democrats.
Blogger Doug Ross (http://www.Directorblue.blogspot.com) has begun posting lists of Republican donors whose Chrysler dealerships have been targeted for closure.
The most complete list of Republican victims of the Chrysler bankruptcy was compiled by an anonymous blogger at
http://www.scribd.com/doc/15760333/Chrysler-Report,
which identified 165 Republican donors out of 595 examined, or just over 27.7 percent.
One blogger, who claimed to work for one of the soon-to-be closed dealerships, reported on the blog Cars.com that his dealership was in the top 125 out of the 3,500 dealerships nationwide . . . yet we are on the list. We are not small nor are we rural. We are in a large major metropolitan area. Our new vehicle inventory alone is well over $4 million.
In addition, Chrysler is already ‘shopping’ for dealers to take over the open ‘points’ (another name for franchise) left by closed dealership, he added. This is so much more than ‘just business.’ This is about control and power by our present administration in Washington.
Auto-dealers as an industry tend to give more to Republican causes than to Democrats, according to an analysis done by Center for Responsive Politics, a nonprofit organization that compiles FEC data and operates the Open Secrets Web site.
During the 2008 election cycle, the center found that auto dealers and their associated political action committees made a total of $9 million in campaign contributions, giving by a 3-to-1 margin to Republicans.
The automobile industry as a whole made $18.5 million in donations in 2008, also breaking roughly 3-to-1 in favor of Republican candidates and causes.
But it ranked way behind lawyers, civil servants, hedge fund managers, teachers unions, and the entertainment industry, which were large Democrat donors.

“As close to a dictatorship as this country has ever seen”
Mark Levin

made that statement on Thursday evening. Was he overstating things? Consider the following steps taken by the Obama administration and then judge for yourself:
Our customers can rest assured that a leaner, stronger Dodge, Chrysler and Jeep dealer network is emerging to better meet their needs....I'm with you, kitty! I made my final payment on my Dodge truck this week! And I just received in the mail an invitiation from my dealer to an event to announce the building of a 'New Car Company' (Chrysler) and to show their appreciation with incentives. We remain profoundly grateful for the support of the millions of owners of Chrysler vehicles. We take enormous pride in the contributions we make to our communitites, local economies and this great industry. We are honored by the trust you have placed with us and look forward to continuing to serve your for many years to come.
I won't go back there. There is no trust.

We are witnessing the destruction of Capitalism and the erection of Fascism in America. Chrysler/Jeep will be the proto type model for GM, Banks, financial companies and other American Industries.
I fear you are correct.
It’s hard to resist the temptation to employ the willing power of the government to beat down your competition. It’s a time-honored practice, and knows no party.
They may be successful in taking away a few dealerships, those that don't have other makes already, from pubbie supporters but all that will do is encourage these entrepreneurs to fight back 10X time harder!
I never met a car dealer yet that was willing to roll over, bend over and get screwed by any demorat.!
These guys will let the rats know that they will not be pushed around IMHO and the rats will wind up self destructing even faster than they already are.
What else would you expect the winners to say?
Obama/Democrat Culture of Corruption.
Thanks for the ping.
