Postponing his own lucrative summer work on the North Slope oil fields, Todd does the bulk of the childcare for now, while Bristol also hits the gym and tanning. "My dad lets me go tanning quite a bit."

Todd has a seasonal job. But don't let the facts get in the way of your Palin-bashing. But, then again, you seldom let facts get in the way of any of your opinions.
What Debbie is saying is that in general non-traditional families haven't worked well and there are sound reasons conservatives haven't supported such arrangements. Whether it's Mr. Mom, single motherhood or gay parenting, we all know they are not good for the children. So Debbie's point is not just about the Palin family but about how conservatives have been willing to overturn all they hold near and dear to sanction behavior (for this particular family) they would never countenance in other circumstances. And there's a name for it.

Aaaand the demediacrats continue their destruction of zer0’s greatest threat. After what they did to Ronaldus Magnus (Reagan, not the FReeper), I don’t believe a word of their spin and outright lies about any Conservative.
Extrapolating from a story by someone with PDS isn’t very productive.
So Ben Franklin should have yucked it up with his own Tory son during the American Revolution, cause-be-damned? You don’t get it, do you?
The most sensible statement in this entire thread.. of course, don't let it get in the way of folks bashing them.. shhhh.. I heard he made her a peanut butter and jelly sandwich the other day.. gasp... she can't make it herself, she has Todd whipped..
Hey, maybe you'd be happy if Todd just accidentally shot Bristol and the kid so Palin could make a really solid statement about the consequences of pregnancy out of wedlock. Kinda like Muslim honor killings.
You're an ass. The Palins are showing how families handled these matters in the past - they helped the daughter rather than expecting government to do it. That's FAR more conservative than anything you could devise.
If you see some sort of moral equivalency between the two, then I've got two words for ya.. THERAPY.
Yeah, that will go over well....are you NUTZ?
Debbie also pointed out that she’s only repeating the general point Anne Coulter made in her last book about the mommy nation. Conservatives want to believe that, in general, but then invest in a family that can’t possibly make the argument in person.
So you are reduced to comparing a family helping their daughter raise their out of wedlock child with Franklin dealing with a treasonous son in a time of war?
Do you realize just how aburd that is?
Actually, don't bother answering that one - your banalities on this thread have already answered that one...
WTH? We don’t know every detail of this family and it is not our business but theirs what goes on in their home. Conservatives are not busy bodies about people’s personal lives.
yeah, of course there’s always that darned prodigal son parable that some guy told a couple of thousand years ago, so...... I guess he was talking about things that aren’t as important as politics.
Conservatives are very particular about family structure unlike the libtards who think Bill and Hillary are the archetypical structure! Newt blew it, and Palin is great, but surrounded by a questionable family structure.
If the American Revolution had faced a nation full of single moms on the dole—and Franklin’s son had become a poster child for the runaway dad—yes, that’s exactly what Franklin would have done. We have at least nominal consent to our taxation. The real task now is whether we can govern ourselves. Sarah’s response to her daughter’s People Magazine circus is not very impressive on that head.
Debbie Schlussel’s other half. If there is such a creature.
Stunning. Here we are with men that father 21 kids by 11 baby mommas, and we are bashing the guy who is staying IN his kids life, OFF the dole, and helping his daughter, who is OFF the dole? Isn’t that what families do? When I had my oldest son at 19, my parents, not the govt, stepped in and helped me while I worked. They babysat, helped when I needed a break, or, yes, went out on a date which was how I met my current husband (20 year anniversary coming up). He then stepped in and helped me raise my son, and gave me 2 more. Todd is doing exactly what would be expected in a real father; whatever is necessary to provide care for his family. Roles shift and change as life goes on. I am a stay at home mom, but if I was able to get into politics or pull down a 6 figure income, you better believe my man is man enough to be able to care for the family as well as I could. What next? Are we going to emasculate male nurses, or orderlies? How about male teachers? How sexist! Of course, you don’t hear anyone emasculating gay men for dressing like women and “nesting” or designing womens fashions, or womens hairstyles. I guess they are real men, and men that care for their families in whatever way is most beneficial to the family are “whipped”. We need to stop getting “real men” editorials from women who have never had a “real man”. Their views are warped and discriminatory. All “real women” know that.........
I think someone is bitter that his grandpa didn’t give him enough hugs...
How many times did your mom drop you on your head as a child?
Was Reagan’s family okay for us? I think it’s a legitimate question. He was divorced, Ron Jr. is .... well.... not that there’s anything wrong with that, and his daughter is/was just a damned disaster.
