Postponing his own lucrative summer work on the North Slope oil fields, Todd does the bulk of the childcare for now, while Bristol also hits the gym and tanning. "My dad lets me go tanning quite a bit."

I was just thinking...

My grandfather was my father growing up. He took me to baseball games, took me fishing, took me to the fair, took me to church with him. spent a lot of money making sure I had nice clothes. he let me move back in with him when I was 19-20 and there was a major depression crisis in my life. and he was supportive of me. gave me advice.

Todd Palin is in the same role.

How are they not managing their kids?

It seems to me Ronald Reagan would have been thrilled to have Ron Jr. in the military like Sarah's oldest. And if Patti Reagan had only gotten pregnant instead of turning into the drugged-out, sexed out disgrace she became, he probably would have welcomed that too.

1 Cor 5 specifically mentions not “keeping company” with, among other things, fornicators. The fear of disfellowship, for most of Christian history, has kept infidelity and bastardy in check.

Maybe Levi could be that same man, if he were encouraged by the Palins—and the rest of the community—to be that man. As it stands, the Palins are an argument for no dad and a good grandad. Not bad—but it isn’t the whole picture.

You summed up much of the media's resentment of Sarah. While they tout woman's rights......they hate her for having it her way. debbie doesn't get it or want to......but she is hounding Sarah for the speck in her eye while ignoring the log in her own......

"Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?

she might want to clean up her own hate mongering hounding of Sarah and move on, we all have.

Oh, you don’t know what the hell you are talking about. You don’t know how hard the Palin’s tried, what was said, what exactly was going on behind the scenes. Until you do, perhaps you should stop pretending to be an expert.

Levi’s mother is selling Oxycontin, he clearly has issues with maturity.

What if his family is a danger to the baby ?

think with the thinking part of your brain.

think with the thinking part of your brain.

I was kinda hoping you could adapt the same policy. The simple fact is that Sarah Palin is pitching herself as the limited government, family-values conservative. A simple admission that her daughter should seek a husband, preferably the actual father of her child, to provide a fatherly presence for her grandchild, is not a terribly difficult task. If it IS a difficult task, then it is no wonder that single motherhood has gone from 3.5% to 40%. I guess you think that's a good thing?

you chickened out. Should the Palins church shut them all out, or just Bristol? You have chosen to specifically attack the Palins on this issue, but you run to generalities when pressed. How do you know Bristol hasn’t repented? She has committed fornication, and because of gossip, EVERYBODY knows. Is that I lifetime ban for her? C’mon farmer18th, have the courage of your convictions, and speak to this situation. If you don’t really know, then you might want to think about the state of your own heart in this. How do you know she hasn’t repented?

I await you avoidance with great anticipation.

She tried. I assume she tried. Do you think she has not thought about this and worried about this ? Do you think this has been easy for her ?

When the father’s mother is selling hillbilly heroin, odds are there are some deep problems. The baby is living with Sarah and Todd. what if that is the only safe option ?

Since you have no idea what the circumstances of the Bristol/Hunk break-up were, why would you make such stupid statements about what they should do?

Should Reagan have insisted Ron jr. leave the ballet and join the military to set an example for young American men? Did he demand Patti get into a drug rehab program so voters would re-elect him?

Your arguments are ridiculous and it's obvious you're looking to believe anything negative about the Palins.

I didn’t chicken out—you chickened out. You read 1 cor 5 and then made an asinine statement assuming I was applying incest to the Palins. The answer is that, of course, if the Christian church was a real Christian church it would excommunicate and/or disfellowship Bristol for her actions, just as the Pope should have excommunicated Nancy Pelosi and probably 75% of American Catholic politicians for voting pro-abortion.

The only reason we're even talking about this specific instance is the reality of Sarah Palin as a potential presidential candidate. Instead of hearing Bristol's meandering, morally unschooled ruminations on the subject of dating, abstinence and motherhood, I would MUCH rather have listened to Sarah's decision making about this issue, since it is a very direct indicator of how she might govern on social policy issues. She has let Bristol take the lead and it doesn't reflect very well on her.

As a Freeper just told me on Freepmail--someone equally troubled by the conservative double standard on Sarah Palin--if this were happening to one of Ted Kennedy's grand kids, we would all be talking about what a poor example was being set. Instead "Magic Sarah" is given a pass. That is gross hypocrisy.

your words are uncompassionate, counter productive and grossly unfair.

What do you expect Sarah to do ? disown her daughter and grandson ?

and your use of the word “bastard” earlier in this thread is enough to make me sick to my stomach.

you, sir. should be more concerned about children who are abused, homeless, raped, starving. or about the 4000 unborn children who are murdered each day. Instead you rant in some misguided argument in the style of a mid 20th century raised loveless borish father who punishes his teenage daughter for making a serious mistake. What do you think lead to the abortion movement ? your style of attitude is party responsible.

How about love. how about a reaching out to help young mothers. who unfortunately have fathers like you. and need love and support.

Where is your compassion for the 40% of American children born without a father? Do you think that problem just "goes away" by holding hands and singing "koom ba ya?"

and your use of the word “bastard” earlier in this thread is enough to make me sick to my stomach.
That was a legal term, not an intended pejorative. Old American statute books include it routinely. You're going to have to toughen up if you want to learn something from America's Christian legal tradition.

As to pro-life issues, when you've stood on as many sidewalks near abortion clinics as I have, we can talk.

Your loveless, uncharitable, uncompassionate rigidly unforgiving attitude is unlikely to save the lives of the unborn. People with your harsh and hateful outlook harm the pro-life movement. Please stay off the sidewalks if all you can do is condemn.

You’re the exact type of person that drives women to have abortions, not the opposite. You’re a self-righteous, lunatic that has serious issues with women.

I think you’d better go back to reading up on compassion because you sure don’t have any.

She already said she sympathizes with Levi. Yes Levi the dork who has spoken in public about his sexual relations with his baby's mother. Yes Levi the guy who is convinced he is going to have a long career of trashing his sons family. Debbie has said before she sympathizes with him. I have no interest in anything else she wants to contribute to the conversation from this point forward.
