Check out the MicroPoll link: http://www.micropoll.com/akira/mpresult/501693-169959
With 267 participants, Lonegan leads 62% to Christie's 22% and Merkt's 16%! Eight States Favoring Lonegan, vs. only PA favoring Christie (but with only 40% of the total vote!) and MD favoring Merkt. NJ favoring Lonegan with 62% of the poll vote; NY with 63% (despite Giuliani), other 6 states (AZ, IL, GA, NC, SC, and VA) each give Steve 100% of their votes!
1) The progressive income tax is an immoral, wealth redistribution scheme taken from the playbook of Karl Marx.
2) Small business and corporate taxes should be eliminated entirely to catalyze New Jerseys lagging economy.
3) Energy rates should be kept low and proceeds should not be used to solve, fix, or address global warming.
4) COAH should be overturned entirely, not gutted and reincarnated in a different form as Christie suggests.
5) Every child should receive an equal share of state aid for their education regardless of where they live.
6) The judiciary should be accountable to the people and should be precluded from legislating from the bench.
7) Abortion providers like Planned Parenthood should not receive taxpayer dollars.
8) Law-abiding citizens should have the right to carry firearms as the citizens of Pennsylvania do.
9) Illegal immigrants should not receive government services and should be deported.
10) Corzines record is abysmal; Christie will keep the entirety of it in place with only minor changes here and there.
As nice as that may be, why would anyone from Maryland or Arizona or California have an opinion that matters? The voters of New Jersey will decide who “won” the debate by voting for the next governor. If New Jersey does as it has in the past then count on Corzine still being the governor the day after swearing in.
What do the other states have to do with New Jersey’s choice for Governor?
If Lonegan wins the primary, he will have to deal with a spoiler named Daggett, who once served in the Tom Kean Administration.
Lonegan best represents Republican political philosophy. He will also fix the system. The system is backing Christie because the Republican part of the system doesn't acknowledge the need to be “fixed”. Like the Dems, the Republican insiders are very much a part of the overall problem and they view “outsider” Lonegan as a threat as his primary loyalty is to the voting taxpayers of New Jersey and basic principles of traditional American moral and economic values, not personal fealty to entrenched party bosses and career politicians.
UNFORTUNATELY nothing. New jersey would be better off if its voters though more like middle America than like the Rotten Apple.
How important is New Jerseys race? Consider this: When Newt Gingrich spoke at CPAC a few weeks ago, he called this years New Jersey race one of the most consequential in American history.
Its thats important.
While Republicans from all over America are enamored with Lonegan, his biggest challenge comes from Republicans in the Garden State. Monmouth County, a Republican stronghold, awarded the party line on the ballot to another candidate by fiat, without allowing Republican Committee members to be heard.

Lonegan cannot win against Corzine. Republicans have a real chance to win this state and Christie can win. the Dmocrats are so scared of Christie that they are running anti-Christie commericals in the hope that Lonegan gets the nomination. Corzine is bankrolling these ads.
Lonegan’s tax cut plan will reduce income tax rates for single filers making over $35,000 a year and couples over $70,000 a year. Coupled with property tax reductions from overturning the Abbott decision, more than 75% of all taxpayers will pay less to the government under the Lonegan tax cut plan.
As for Steve Forbes, he also endorsed the bailouts.
The only candidate Corzine fears is Lonegan. Which is why all the lib papers are declaring Christie the preemptive winner. Reminds me of the love affair between the NYTimes and McCain.
True conservatives care about what Newt has to say.
From a realistic perspective, it doesn’t matter at all.
The fact that Christie didn’t do so well is suprising. He an attorney. They are trained for that kind of thing.
I hope Lonegan has a chance - he’s far better than Christie from a conservative perspective.
These are not the same times of the past. If the elections were next year, I would guarantee a conservative win. This year, I'm 85% sure Corzine won't win.
I need to ask you a question. If someone that makes a lot of money pays the state of NJ, say, 50,000 (assume 5% of a million). Another person pays $2,000 (assume 5% of $40k). Both people pay the same rate, right? Do you believe that is unfair? If so, who got hosed, the person making $1m or $40k?
Dude, you have marxists tendencies. A person that makes a lot of money is equal to a person that does not. Why shouldn't people making less money have to pay for their fair share of government services - whether its in the form of local services via property taxes, or state services funded through income taxes. I am so sick and tired of property tax rebates based on income. Tired of stimulus checks base on income. Tired of people making $25-30k making huge demands for services, as long as they don't have to pay for them.
How about this. If you pay no taxes, you don't get to vote. When we are truly all equally funding the system, then maybe these socialist scumbags won't keep getting elected. Until then, people like Corzine will just keep giving the goodies out to people that don't work, don't work to their full capacity by choice, have no initiative to better themselves and contribute to society - in return for their vote.
You've fallen for the oldest trick in the book when it comes to these big tax clowns. They confiscate half your wealth, then take a tiny nugget of the booty, wrap it in a bow, and tell you it's a gift for you.
Then you get all excited about how generous they are!
