Then I’d probably hate my every living moment there.
Still, I’m glad YOU like it!

Don’t sweat it.
In the Undead Thread, such descriptors tend to end up muddled anyway.

Well, I’d like a cooling rain — but both mountain and road bikes got ridden in the past three days. First time in a while for both.

(Wish I had a mountain bike. Last time I rode one, I went backside over teakettle and splatted the pavement because Igor cut in front of me with no signal. Arterial blood on that day.... Haven’t been on one since.)

Ouch! Don't really blame you on that.
We have a couple of relatively low-end mountain bikes (all we could afford at the time and then only thanks to a gift), but a little TLC keeps them in tune and going. Mine is the only one that's gone offroad, I think, but it's a bit uncomfortable because it's a hardtail (no suspension).
My commuter roadbike always gets strange looks from cyclists. They probably don't even note the handlebars -- a style from the 70s that I haven't seen since, but I now have a backup set because they fit me really well. But they have friction shifters (which I like), a mountain-bike drivetrain with really low low gears (I used to climb steep hills on this bike, and didn't even need to get out of the saddle), mountain-bike cleated pedals (forgot why I went with those), carrier rack, and fenders with mudflaps.
I used to really enjoy cycling. I might again. I only wish I lived where I could cycle-commute.

Weird. My hometown showed up in the news once again and I went to look at it on Google Maps. Our old house is still there, but a friend’s house is gone — it looks like it might be a park now.

"Alas, I am not IBTZ." I've gotten used to that. We almost never are.
Console yourself with our "stellar" position in regard to viewing comets. Ostensibly, we of the Flying Castle are orbiting with the asteroids.
This gives us the opportunity to study comets of all types, though not too many of the Haley type.
We also have ample time and privacy to plot our imminent domination of the Solar System, having planted a lunar outpost and a Martian colony, and in preparing to begin the harvesting of resources from Venus as well.
The future belongs to those willing to Terraform, you know.

Ha. Got another fundraiser "poll" from the RNC. A good opportunity to tell them what they could do right and what they're doing wrong. At their expense.
(Really wish things were otherwise...)

And a Good Evening to you, Pippin!
Survived my stay in Maryland in good order -- cool weather and good A/C for our meetings helped.
