Clinton inherited Somalia from GHWB. It was over the summer of 1993 that he and SecDef Les Aspin came up with the strategy that resulted in Blackhawk Down that October.
The Haitian refugee issues were mounting during that timeframe, but Slick's *invasion* of Haiti didn't take place until mid-1994.

Fair enough on Somalia, but the Haitian refugee blunder was a year before that in the summer of 1992, while slick was still on the campaign trail, a year before, my blog post is about this very story. Did you see it?
Nope. But I was deployed to Somalia in '93, and to Haiti in '94. I can keep the dates straight because I managed to get divorced between the two ;-)

You are talking about the 93-94 conflict in Haiti, and I’m talking about candidate Bill Clinton pointing his finger at first president Bush demamnding that Haitian REFUGEES be given asylum in the United States in the summer of 1992, the word got out and 150,000 Haitians took to the high seas for the United States and many of them died, Clinton, 5 days before taking office Jan 15, 1993 then reversed policy back to the George H.W. Bush policy...What a waste of time...
