During Wednesday's White House press briefing, a reporter's cell phone started to ring.
White House Press Secretary and Chief Propagandist Robert Gibbs put out his hand demanding the phone and then walked back to his office door and threw the phone out.
What is this High School? The Gestapo?
The Press Corps laughs it up like they did at the Correspondent's Dinner!
That Clown Gibbs is a real hoot! Not!
What a freaking idiot; who hired this clown anyway?

No foul here.
But what I’d like to know is which one of those jokers in the room pushed their speed dial to ring the second reporters phone right on cue!
I saw it. I do not know Gizzi, but I am assumming both he and Plante may have left them on by mistake. If neither of them have a habit of leaving their cells on, perhaps a friendly reminder to all would have worked.
That being said, I love it that Plante walked out & would not relinquish his phone. “Gibbs wants my phone. I don’t think it’s a good idea.” As close to ‘in your face buffoon’ as I have seen yet.
Meant to add. The collective “OHHHHH’s” I heard from the rest of the room when Plante walked out was enough to make me puke. One would have thought Plante walked out on the Virgin Mary.
I agree. Every cell phone thread on FR makes me notice that almost EVERYONE nowadays have no manners requarding this.
Is it really so hard to turn the damn thing off when in court, press conferences, movie theatre, broadway plays, etc...
The Gestapo?? Ya think!!! Brown Shirts?? Ya Think?? Joseph Goebbel’s-style Propaganda?? Ya Think!! We’re in theToilet Bowl?? Ya think!! Socialism?? Ya think?? No Republican Leadership and No gonads in DC?? Ya Think!!
The whole business evokes the image of a play that fails after a one night run off-Broadway.
Method of mass distraction. They were drilling him, he wanted to change the subject and take the heat off.
i believe you have nailed it.
Irrelevant I know, but he’s very weird looking. His boss has big, blubbery, blue lips, Gibbs has no lips.
They used to at least pretend they weren't all on the same team.
Larry Mondelo all grown up.
Gibbs is so easily distracted. he should have asked the reporter to leave. That would be the adult thing to do. He treated him like a child. Taking his phone was his ego speaking - I have power! Good for the other guy w/his ‘up yours’ approach. I’m not condoning his ring of the phone - but seeing Gibbs approach to a problem is a worse offense. I’d take a ringing phone before I’d bow to the zero’s admin.
I watched, and I must say this is the first time in this man’s job that I have ever seen him act professional. Yeh, I might have done the same if I was trying to speak and I was being interrupted by someone rude enough not to turn off their cell.
On the other hand, maybe the reporters knew that Gibbs never really said anything at these conferences, so who cares if a phone rings.
I have to give it to Gibbs on this one.
Irrelevant I know, but hes very weird looking. His boss has big, blubbery, blue lips, Gibbs has no lips.

LOLOL!
Yeh, though I agree to a point, a may have handled the issue a little different...maybe like asking the person to leave the room.
Gibbs is an idiot.
