During Wednesday's White House press briefing, a reporter's cell phone started to ring.

White House Press Secretary and Chief Propagandist Robert Gibbs put out his hand demanding the phone and then walked back to his office door and threw the phone out.

What is this High School? The Gestapo?

The Press Corps laughs it up like they did at the Correspondent's Dinner!

Seemed that way to me, too. I don't support Obama, but you don't do something stupid like that when the President is talking to you in the same room, either, whether it's 0 or someone better. i.e. respect for the office of the President, even if I don't respect the person that's in there now.

I've heard speakers make the usual "please turn off or set to vibrate" plea but also say "and if one rings, it's mine!" Sure enough, one chimed, the speaker said "give it here" and then answered the call. When handled with humor, it can be quite instructive in a pour encourager les autres kind of way. I'm sure Gibbs mishandled it as he does everything else.

i actually found it more interesting when a second guy’s phone rang, he answered, gibbs demanded the phone, and the guy just walked out of the press conference. lol that’s what made me giggle inside, seeing how just about everyone is loosing respect for this administration.
