I hope you’ll pardon me for reviving an old thread started by Sun but something has come up. Back on May 10 we talked about alternatives to garlic grown and processed in China, and on post #7 was a link to a tiny, one-person garlic operation run by Mark Agee in Virginia. He grows his own, smokes it and grinds it. What he sells isn’t available except for when his new crop comes in.

I use garlic on my shrimp scampi, omelettes, soups, and wherever I use stewed tomatoes. I’ve been holding off until his new crop is in and he’s only doing a limited run this year. At age 43 he is back in college and working a full time job, so my heart goes out to him. He does have his crop ready to smoke and grind, so it shouldn’t be long.

Thanks to mylife for pointing this out.

Sort of related...I posted a reply to a thread the other day and someone pointed out it was about 5 years old. My garlic crop is hanging in the fence drying for storage. Six varieties of hard neck and soft neck types...

Hopefully I’ll get the rest of my crop dug up this weekend.

So I’ve still got garlic left over from last year. Does anybody have any ideas for dried garlic cloves?

Another alternative that might have missed your attention was in post #69. Here’s a link:

Thanks, and maybe you can remind us when your friend’s garlic is ready to sell.
