I can't find any garlic powder that is not produced in China, whether it's a name brand, or generic brand. I'm willing to order it. Has anyone found any that is not produced in China?
This sounds good. Will the dried, ground garlic powder keep in the fridge or on your cupboard shelf for a long time?
Apologies if dupe - Trader Joe’s California Garlic Powder. Only kind I’ll use.
Penzey’s, which someone posted earlier, is a good source, too. They know their stuff!
I am so sick of china products I could scream! We need to grow our own, dehydrate them and then grind them into powder!!! AaaRg
I bought minced garlic, grown in US, it has no additives etc at the local store.
We now grow our own garlic.
You beat me to it—i need to drag my dehydrator out...at least I got to vent. :)
They Specialize in Paprika and meat rubs,
but the Garlic powder is outstanding.
Imported by SPICECO, Avenel, NJ

Where does it say that Simply Organic garlic is not made in China? There is a ton of organic stuff from China. Do you trust their “organic” designation?
A little internet research comes up with things like:
Layous and others cite a 2002 report by the now-defunct Americans for Wholesome Food, a coalition of businesses and organizations dedicated to educating consumers, on domestic and imported garlic powder. The AWF's report, based on independent lab tests, found "high levels of lead, arsenic and added sulfites in two supermarket-brand imported garlic powders from store shelves."
Groan...everyone needs to be pinged to THAT. The govt DOES NOT CARE, and they have the nerve to say that our health care system needs an overhaul!
The food they import is playing a role in the health of our nation—
We know the govt needs and overhaul, and part of it is getting china and whatever debt we owe them out of our economy!

Or, check the local farmers markets, sometimes you can find it there.
Thank you for the questions. I have no answers.
Spice World is the brand I bought last time too. After reading on FR that most garlic came from China and I discovered all the other brands had Chinese characters around the edge of the lid. When you go to the grocery store next time look and see.
I’ve got some that is made by a company named
REX in Louisiana (New Orleans). The phone number is: 1-800-344-8314.
It will keep a long time. I have a big jar left and plan to make more this year.
Garlic is very oily, so when cutting it you need to keep a wet cloth handy to wipe your finger and knife with.
Thank you for the tip.. I always have crused it with a garlic press..so that info is good to know.
Here’s a place to check: http://www.penzeys.com/cgi-bin/penzeys/shophome.html
Nope they get their garlic from China too. The chinese with the help of Dianne Feinstein put nearly all the garlic farmers out of business in Gilroy.
Thanks for all the helpful information guys.
I hope others will join me in calling the stores and tell them we want USA garlic, or even from Italy (anything but China). If we don’t complain, more and more food products will be from China and eventually we won’t have a choice.
This for me is very useful info. Such a daily hassle to ferret out and avoid Red Chinese goods.Anybody else, like Whole Paycheck, signing on to that policy?
