It would certainly be better than what we have now.
I agree. You shouldn’t get a vote unless you have paid at least $1 in income taxes. I have never understood that, but our founding fathers did. They knew we could keep the republic only as long as people didn’t figure out that they could vote themselves money/benefits from the national treasure. Voila! Now we have the great unwashed liberal drones voting in a block to “get mine”
Sticks and stones. I don’t care what they call me. All I know is that a limited government republic is vastly superior to an unlimited government democracy.
Speaker of the United States House of Representatives. I simply tried abbrev. “Speaker of the house”.
But hey — Lord Soth might be an improvement on the current POS.
(Oh, that stands for piece of....)
I think BHO is much more of a socialist than he is a fascist. Fascism has a strong nationalist component. BHO HATES America.
Robert A. Heinlein had a good idea. Only Honorably discharged veterans may vote. I’m all for that. Here’s my DD214, sign me up.
Excellent. To the point. And said in a hell of lot less words than I used to express this very point.
Repeal Amendment IX and raise the voting age to 30, to make it closer to what 21 used to represent.
I think you are right. Well, This American hates BH0!
Bring back the poll tax and literacy test. . .heck, I’d be happy if they just limited voting to US citizens.
Brilliant in it's simplicity!
If you do not have the wherewithal to take care of yourself, you cannot be allowed to ruin society for those that CAN take care of themselves.
That depends on whether you’re a taxpayer or a prole.
Proles claim they are exploited and oppressed (and it really happens, too). So they demand and are extended rights like the vote to protect some basic human rights.
Sooner or later (mostly sooner) they decide that a decent (and subsidized) standard living, regardless of their income, is a basic right and start voting themselves money from the public trough.
Politicians are interested in keeping their job and accumulating power. It is in their best interests to buy the proles’ votes (its not THEIR money) and convince everybody else that its only the right thing to do to subsidize them. They also accumulate power through the taxes and programs that provide for these “less fortunate” people.
So, they round up votes by promising things to the proles; they gather up power by creating programs and raising taxes to subsidize the proles.
People don’t seem to realize that we’ve reached this state, because this is what the politicians WANT. They have secure jobs and immense power.
And they will never, ever, give anything up, while they are still breathing.
I think he means the Speaker of the House.
I don’t know about that one. I’ve talked to too many veterans who believe in stuff like Compulsory National Volenteer Service.
I still think voting should be limited to married men with children, who are married to the mother of their children.
I don’t have a problem with anyone voting, but they need to be either property owners or self sufficient (not on government assistance). If they have nothing to lose and everything to gain, they will go with the candidates who promises the most to the voters. This has nothing with race or sex. I am real tired of the slugs of this country voting for jackasses who tax me to give my hard earned money to idiots who refuse to work. If I were king there would be some changes made. (Attributed to Robert Earl Keen.)
I agree w/ that wholeheartedly. But I’ve been criticized for having the opinion that anyone on the dole be subjected to mandatory drug testing. Apparently, not a popular suggestion.
I hear you. I live in California. Would you believe that here in this wacky state with all of the illegal aliens we have here, they don’t even bother to ask you for ID when you go to vote. Isn’t that simply insane?
“Lord Soth might be an improvement on the current POS.”
Speaker of the House makes sense, but if she’s on your list, shouldn’t voters also know who the Senate Majority Leader is?
No. Did your State have hanging chads?
USC Art I Section. 4. The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations, except as to the Places of chusing Senators.
ML/NJ
That was supposed to be "Repeal Amendment XIX..."
