Sticks and stones. I don’t care what they call me. All I know is that a limited government republic is vastly superior to an unlimited government democracy.

That depends on whether you’re a taxpayer or a prole.
Proles claim they are exploited and oppressed (and it really happens, too). So they demand and are extended rights like the vote to protect some basic human rights.
Sooner or later (mostly sooner) they decide that a decent (and subsidized) standard living, regardless of their income, is a basic right and start voting themselves money from the public trough.

Politicians are interested in keeping their job and accumulating power. It is in their best interests to buy the proles’ votes (its not THEIR money) and convince everybody else that its only the right thing to do to subsidize them. They also accumulate power through the taxes and programs that provide for these “less fortunate” people.

So, they round up votes by promising things to the proles; they gather up power by creating programs and raising taxes to subsidize the proles.

People don’t seem to realize that we’ve reached this state, because this is what the politicians WANT. They have secure jobs and immense power.

And they will never, ever, give anything up, while they are still breathing.
