But according to the United States government, the tenth-grade home-schooler is being held on a criminal complaint that he made a bomb threat from his home on the night of Feb. 15....
Around 10 p.m. on March 5, Lundeby said, armed FBI agents along with three local law enforcement officers stormed her home looking for her son. They handcuffed him and presented her with a search warrant....
Lundeby (MOM) said the USA Patriot Act stripped her son of his due process rights.....
"They're saying that 'We feel this individual is a terrorist or an enemy combatant against the United States, and we're going to suspend all of those due process rights because this person is an enemy of the United States," said Dan Boyce, a defense attorney and former U.S. attorney not connected to the Lundeby case.....
Because a federal judge issued a gag order in the case, the U.S. attorney in Indiana cannot comment on the case, nor can the FBI. The North Carolina Highway Patrol did confirm that officers assisted with the FBI operation at the Lundeby home on March 5.

No collaberation that this kid was arrested under the Patriot Act.
Even if arrrested under the Patriot Act, no collaberation that his rights have impeded upon.... in fact, officers has warrants and there is a federal judge assigned to the case.
This is a propoaganda piece about the Patriot Act and to promote a bill to ammend the Patriot Act by Progessive Congressman Jerrold Nadler (in the article).

Why is it a hit peice? Was the kid arrested under the Patriot Act or not?
When I was in school this was done a couple of time by ignorant kids as a prank - call in a bomb threat to the school. In older days it would have probably been ignored - but now you’re in serious trouble. Suspension or even expulsion - yes, get the local police involved to see if it is a serious threat - yes, common sense approach - yes.
Locking the kid up if he’s innocent - or it was a dumb prank call - no.
How can you determine if he is innocent or that it was a dumb prank call without hauling his a@@ in. If he is innocent, bet he never does it again.
Let’s say they come to your house for your kid - whom you feel is just a regular kid and does not have any kind of invovement or history of doing things such as this - would you want him locked up and held?
Maybe a hauling down to station for some grown-up type questioning - but if grown-up professionals are indeed using their common sense - they should be able to determine quickly whether or not this is some innocent kid maybe guilty of a stupid prank (maybe not even that) as opposed to a real threat.
I don’t think it would take much to figure it out.
And I would be angry if it was my child. Bet you would be too.
I do however question how it serves the interests of justice to extradite a minor to Indiana during the investigation phase. I'm not sure he can be questioned at all without his parent present and she is a widow.
Is there any case of an American citizen being held as you claim? Can you name any?
What you are saying is that it’s OK to have a law that can be misused on the books, because we can trust the government never to misuse it.
I live in the county where the kid was arrested. I am active in the homeschool community and I have never heard of this family nor has anyone I know. They do not appear to be long time homeschoolers as I found them listed in the yearbook at a private school for the 2007-2008 year.
A report on WRAL last week was the first I had heard of this and our hometown newspaper didn’t report it until yesterday. I am still asking around for further info. I know the editor of the paper and plan to ask him too.
Good. Please see if you can find out why they took the kid to Indiana.
Good. Please see if you can find out why they took the kid to Indiana.
I didn’t say that.
I am not sure that I believe that the Patriot Act allows what is being claimed here by some. That is why I was asking as to any evidence of it being used that way. Ill read up a little better on the Padilla case and this aspect of it.
If the Patriot Act needs to be amended for good reason then I would support it but there has been alot of propaganda spread about this law that isn’t true.

Notice how the mom says she doesn’t believe in guns? She probably does now.
The local newspaper article said that he is being held in Indiana because that’s where the bomb threat was made. The mother maintains their computer was hacked and that the family were all together at church when the threat was made. Should be easy to confirm with the minister if the young man was in church or not.
According to the local paper yesterday...”Ashton Lundeby is being held in Indiana where the bomb threat was made.”
I heard her on the radio this morning. She may be afraid of guns like a lot of people who aren’t familiar with them, but
she sounded honest, sincere and very concerned about her son. I wonder where daddy is?
I agree. I myself am a little afraid, at times, of the idea of guns in the house - but I sure do believe them - so to speak.
The vid. said the kid has been in for two months already with slight hope for a hearing in May. Man if I was the Mom - I’d be going crazy - and I’d probably be in real trouble myself by now for goin out and screaming about it out of frustation. She seems pretty calm.
Anybody remember motive? Why would a 16 y old NC kid make a bomb threat to Purdue U? Fishy.
This is a suspicious MSM hit job.
There is no corroboration that this kid was arrested under the Patriot Act.
Even if he was arrested under the Patriot Act, there is no corroboration that his rights were denied. In fact, the officers had a warrant, and there is a federal judge assigned to the case.
