(Obama: more arrogant than Bill Clinton, more naive than Jimmy Carter, and more liberal than LBJ.)

It is dangerous in this day and age to use the word "fascism" lightly. Liberals sling around the term "fascism" without regard to its meeting -- for the left, "fascism" applies to everything from religious social perspectives to conservative tax cut prescriptions. But economic fascism has a precise, defined meaning. And Barack Obama's economic policy fulfills that meaning in every conceivable way. I watched a lengthy biography of FDR on the History Channel a few years ago, and it delved a lot deeper than the traditional hagiographies. They showed a clip from a speech of his, defending his social programs, where he explicitly acknowledged that, "some call them fascist", and I thought that this was lifting the curtain a wee bit on the historical reality. I mentioned this over lunch to a colleague, and I said with a laugh, but truthfully, "I don't remember exactly what he said in response." I thought for a moment than said, "Oh yeah, he said the programs were 'practical'." And for the sake of conversation I acceded to this defense. But ... there you are.

I think HE thinks he can reproduce the Hugo Chavez experiment here and now. Boy, I never thought we had that many peasants.

Strongly suggest that every one who has a chance read Liberal Fascism by Jonah Goldberg. The parallels between our present day community organizer and chief with some of our prior presidents like Wilson, Roosevelt, Kennedy, and Johnson are down right frightening. The one thing that keeps coming back is the idea of control through crises. All of these presidents used crises, both real and imagined, to implement policies that could never be passed in calmer settings. Another facet was the complete and utter disdain for the democratic process. They felt that this was an extreme inconvenience and only they had the right prescription for what ails the country if only every one else would get out of the way. It's rather amazing and frightening reading considering the situation we find ourselves in today. The fact that this book was written prior to Zero's selection makes it even more prophetic.
