In the next Bizarre Foods, Andrew Zimmern goes to Appalachia. Pickled possum eyes, anyone?

Hah, my wife and I have discussed this exact thing before, and we both agree, we would have him eating all manner of disgusting stuff and pretend it’s cultural cuisine.

Although I think people actually do eat possum around here, unsure about the pickled part. :P

Wonder if we’re under attack. Was running fine all day until the last thirty minutes - now it’s crawling for me.

Blech, I’ll try almost anything once but I draw the line at fetid meat and animal waste products. If Zimmern wants to abuse himself by ingesting putrid delicacies he can definitely have my share...

Same here. I also had to get in through the “back door”.

I’ve wondered at times if he was being played, especially the way folks watched him and laughed.

Zimmern eats things that even the GITMO terrorists would turn their noses up at.

Did you catch the Cajun country episode? The funny thing is most of the stuff he ate (Alligator, Nutria, Crayfish) are all normal down here. Boudan? Come on.. it is pork sausage with rice.. what's bizarre about that?

I saw him eat TurDucken (Turkey, Duck, Chicken) and the next thing I knew I saw it at my local supermarket.

I LOVE Turducken.. we have two places here that make it (including one of the famous Hebert’s).. I don’t wait for Thanksgiving, I will roast one up a couple of times a year.

http://www.hebertsmeats.com/turducken.asp

If you are ever down this way, I’ll throw one in the smoker.

Like eating a bowl of eyes in a Moroccan souk. [shudder]

I love his show and have almost all of them on my iTouch. Lots of them are on You Tube as well. Good stuff ... that and Anthony Bourdain’s No Reservations.

When I lived in Lafayette, actually it was Maurice but the hoi polloi of the area decided we needed to have a Lafayette address and they had it changed. Anyway I always stopped by Heberts for their deboned chicken stuffed with all kinds of good things.

Gave a couple to my boss in Houston one year and I ended up receiving his special Christmas list for fresh Hebert's deboned and stuffed chicken and Turducken and making a special trip to Houston to deliver. He did not want them frozen!
