Question: Does anyone doubt that the pilots, if not the entire aircrew, would have had serious questions about the wisdom of this event, and would have asked multiple times for confirmation that the local authorities had been adequately briefed about it? Thse are the best of the best, and in addition to being great pilots, are possessed of clear headedness, and a stell trap mind. So they probably requested confirmation/clearance from higher up...way higher up..in advance..

I’m beginning to wonder if they are TRYING to push our buttons.

I was just thinking the same thing. They've got to know that there is a seething pot on the fire, about to boil over. Day after day, more outrageous acts. Week after week, more power-grabs. It's beginning to look like an unescapable conclusion, that "they" are trying to push us into civil disobedience, as an excuse to institute martial law.

Simple statement to all NYPD , local media and Security Offices in NYC businesses etc could have said large airliner will be flying low pattern over the NYC area for photo ops near Statue of Liberty with chase plane taking the pictures.

No security leak, no issue , total non event.......
