Is Twitter the future of education?
If youre Cole W. Camplese, director of education-technology services at Penn State, University Park, you might be in the yes column.
The prof apparently prefers to teach in classrooms with two screensone to project his slides, and another to project a Twitter stream of notes from students, said Jeffrey Young in a Chronicle of Higher Education piece.
Responding to the claim that this might be distracting, he noted that the additional layer of communication will make for richer class discussion. Could be interesting, although I suspect it would lower itself into stupid humor.
My lib sister-in-law is a professor and involves Twitter in her classroom. Silly, but frankly, one of her lesser problems.
LOL. Don’t ask me. I’m definitely not the expert. Never used it myself.
My brother gives me the occasional update on his wife’s wacky hijinks.
Looks like it's actually celebrity driven. Not really sure. Kids like using their phones.
The students seem to like it...for the same reason that they'd love free beer and bongs in class. It's, like, hip and stuff.

They actually generate press with their twittering. Maybe it’s my perspective these days, working with school kids, but I can tell you they have no clue what Twitter is. It seems to be an adult toy.
I call it "Bologna of the Sea."
(pronounced "baloney")
She’s cute, though. I’ve gotta admit that.
