Excerpt from CDC on transmission:
"In contrast, the situation with a pandemic strain of influenza A (H5) would become only too clear because no one would have any degree of immunity against such a virus, vaccines would not be available for months, and these viruses would likely be highly virulent. Even though efficient human-to-human transmission of the A (H5N1) virus has not yet been observed (by any mode), transmission of influenza A (H5N1) by aerosols from geese to quails has been demonstrated in the laboratory."
"In principle, influenza viruses can be transmitted by 3 routes: aerosols, large droplets, and direct contact with secretions (or with fomites). These 3 routes are not mutually exclusive and, as noted above, may be difficult to disentangle in natural infections."

The Mexican Swine Flu can be easily prevented (and treated) by Tamiflu or Relenza. It is highly airborne infectious and has perhaps a 2 day incubation. This young lad in New York just recovered with no problems.

that was a doctor who posted on the BBC website . below is the link with more stories .
Mexico flu: Your experiences
Readers in Mexico have been emailing the BBC describing the sense of fear gripping the country as a result of a flu virus outbreak, which has so far claimed up to 60 lives. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/talking_point/8018428.stm

I think it's a little too late for that. Even if we decide to mobilize right now, it would take the Gov't a month or so to put anything into action.
The chickens may indeed have come home to roost.
For fear of appearing intolerant, our leaders (both sides) have left the door wide open for this kind of pandemic.

Yes, it is most deadly on the 25-44 population, young strapping lads like this one, have a better rate of recovery. Plus we're talking about only a 6%-8% mortality rate in Mexico in the virus' current form, however 6%-8% is very, very high when then normal mortality rates for influenza is 0.1%. And the 1918 Spanish Flu outbreak had a range of 2%-20%. Also a report from "Recombinomics," in March of this year showed that this year's flu (H1N1) flu was highly Tamiflu (and Relenza) Resistant and Vaccine Failures.

What about the reports that it is resistant to Tamiflu treatment?

CDC: The Mexican Swine Flu is sensitive to Relenza and Tamiflu, but resistant to Amantadine and another med I forget.
To: FreedomFighter1013
I'd recommend reading “The Great Influenza.” Much of what caused it to spread so wildly was a lack of understanding on how to conduct quarantines. We were shipping soldiers to foreign ports out of camps that had outbreaks and spreading it. Same was happening with ships coming into the USA. Furthermore, what killed a lot of people were secondary infections that today could be easily treated with antibiotics. Not to say a pandemic is nothing to worry about, but it isn't quite the catastrophe people imagine it to be.

Unleashing a swine flu in the U.S. would ultimately release it on the whole world, Id guess, including the nation(s) that unleashed it in the first place.Between the beheadings, stonings, honor killings, etc. they don't seem to care who dies. If one their own gets sick, it was all for Allah and they'll get their 71 virgins so all's good.

The Illegals will spread the virus to rural areas where they work as transient farm workers and to cities and suburbs where they work in the restaurant trade and as servants in US homesDon't buy fresh produce unless you will cook it. Don't eat out. Don't eat finger foods.

And the 1918 Spanish Flu outbreak had a range of 2%-20%.Everyone talks about the advances in medicine today over 1918 which would help the mortality rate, however they forget that today's society is much more mobile. Very few still live on the farm and come into town once a month. Very few still travel only on Sunday to church a couple miles away. This mobility will spread any disease more quickly and to a much larger population than was ever thought of in 1918 which imo might very well offset the numbers of improved health care.

What I remember reading from the CDC is that Tamiflu SEEMS to be treating it, but that there were indeed some Mexican healthcare workers who had received either the Tamiflu vaccination, or were treated with it that were NOT responsive to either of those medications — note I realize this may not be typical AT ALL — however, the apparent ‘mildness’ so far exhibited in the US vs. Mexico — how does one account for that?
