Doubt that he was that much taller than his HS teammates in real life. How tall is he today - 6'1”? It would seem that most of the boys on that team would eventually grow to be about that height, since basketball would attract taller than average youngsters. So at about the same age, most of the kids on the team would probably be about the same height as Obama; the image of O towering over them in the photo was probably concocted to make O look like the big guy who stuck out from the rest.
