Albuquerque Tea Party

I attened the Tea Party here in Albuquerque today, I would say there was at least 2000 people in attendance while I was there and plenty of people driving by showing their support. Organizers say that by the end on the party which ran from 4 to 7 PM over 7000 people had registered. The crowd was polite festive and orderly. There where people of all races ages and economic classes and everyone of them were 100% AMERICAN and MAD AS HELL about spending and pork!

Oh by the way they are all now classified by the DHS as Extremist Right-wing Activist and possibly domestic terrorist as well. Who knows one of them might just fly a flag, serve their country, vote, or even breakout in prayer or sometime!

Only 2000? that's a bit sad.... but then again it IS Albuquerque.... So I guess it isn't all that surprising.
Here is my report from 200 miles south and a bit east of there:
Had at least 300 people there for the first hour (4-5PM) Maybe... Maybe 400 there when I left at 5:30 People were trickling in as they got off work.

Not too bad for a place that has an official population of about 7,000, but not an earthshaking attendance either. Mostly 'old folks' in their 60s-80s. Maybe 10% were in their late teens through mid 20s. Another 10% were kids, some of whom actually seemed to enjoy being there. Not as many 'middle agers' as I expected.... But I imagine most of them were either still at work or at their kid's soccer and baseball games.

Oh, and 10 uniformed law enforcement people. (Who I thanked for bravely keeping control over a bunch of dangerous extremists like me.) Took some of them a couple of seconds to figure out what I was joshing them about, but all but one laughed, and one, a young Sergeant from the local PD even play punched me on my shoulder (We are pretty blessed with our local and county law enforcement people Every one I have had any interaction with, official or social has been a great guy (and 1 gal)). Oddly, the representative from the State Police was not at all amused by my jest. His only comment was "Just don't take MY picture."

I didn't tell him "too late"... Telephoto from across the park, half an hour ago." But not to fear, officer, I'll not share it.

Edit: not that anyone cares, but I put some photos up on photobucket:

DOH! Now that I re-read your original post I see that it was 7,000 in attendance later. That’s not bad. Sorry for the previous snark.

Thanks much for the reports!

Greyfoxx was trying to get one of the organizers of the group in ABQ to have someone email her live reports from the scene, but I guess that didn’t work out too well.

I did read some really lousy comments on the ABQ tea party website - one woman that was a doctor (I guess) saying her patients had to fight traffic and then some typical left-wingers saying this was all about losing the election. Sad that these people cannot see what is happening in front of their faces!

Thanks again for the updates and the info! I hope when there’s another one I will be in town to show my support. I did attend the one in Phoenix for just a little while - mainly to show my support for the whole idea. But I had an appointment to get to with a hotel owner so couldn’t stay.
Next time!

Long live TEA PARTIES!

Thank you both for the great photos! People look really energeized and excited to be there in the pictures. And thank goodness it didn’t rain on you, some of those clouds look pretty ugly!

I have to say there were several times I was very moved while I was there. Just knowing that I wasn’t alone was very comforting, add in the diversity and the fact I was seeing the 2nd amendment in psychical form being praciticed before my eyes was very moving and I had more than a few tears in my eyes at times. Must be getting soft in my old age!

No, it didn't.

I would have liked an action report with names of speakers, word pictures of those in the crowd, infiltrators or protests against the rally.

The result was disappointing.

Here are some pics I took in Albuquerque:

Albuquerque Tea Party near Louisiana and Montgomery intersection. That's me with the "Atlas Puked" sign (which I "borrowed" from a picture I found here on FR)

I saw a number of DHS SUVs but didn't get a picture of one. Does anyone who was at the Albuquerque Tea Party have any good pics of the DHS vehicles that were cruising Montgomery?

That's great! Good pictures all.

I didn't even know DHS had their own marked vehicles. Is that so the muzzies get a head's up that they're around? Someone wanted a picture of me with my American flag and he didn't look like a reporter. Maybe he was a fellow protester but I had a funny feeling that wasn't his gig. I'll go ping the NM group and maybe one of them has some pics of DHS. I would have certainly photographed/videoed them if I had seen them here.

Apparently I can’t post to the NM group without setting NM as my location. Perhaps Tijeras_Slim could do that for us. What do you think, TS? BTW did you go to the ABQ Tea Party? It looks like it was a good one.
