“They asked us who wanted to go see President Bush.”

The thing here is that they asked the soldiers who voted for Obama.

You were asked if you WANTED to go see President Bush.

Big difference.

Whenever senators or Congress reps come to Iraq, e-mails go out from the Public Affairs Office announcing who will be here and asking those interested in attending a lunch or some other PR-type event to contact the PAO.

In other words, it's a voluntary thing and nobody is ever asked for whom they voted.

How about if it is a “surprise” visit?
