Whenever senators or Congress reps come to Iraq, e-mails go out from the Public Affairs Office announcing who will be here and asking those interested in attending a lunch or some other PR-type event to contact the PAO.
In other words, it's a voluntary thing and nobody is ever asked for whom they voted.
How about if it is a “surprise” visit?
