You know, I wasn’t paying much attention to politics at the time (not until early 2008) but I remember being really bothered by the Patriot act, and the other act which was the one that allowed martial law in an emergency. I could see the reasoning behind them at the time, but had a bad feeling how they could be misused if someone power-hungry or with ill-intent came into power.

Looks like my “gut feelings” and those of a lot of folks on these issues are turning out to be right on.
