University of Southern California Annenberg School for Communication presenting CBS Evening News anchor Katie Couric with the Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Television Journalism
In a word, preposterous. The question I have is if she is getting this award for journalistic excellence, or for fulfilling her role in the liberal political agenda machine? The interview did, in fact, have a huge impact on the election. She achieved the result the Democrats desired.
Imagine, if you will, if one of her softballs to Obama had garnered similar devastating results and had brought down his candidacy. Would there have been any awards for her then?
Courics award has nothing to do with journalism. Her interview had nothing to do with innocently finding out more about the Republican offering for Vice President. The award, and the interview, are both all about a political agenda. She not only should not be receiving a reward for the Palin interview, she should have been questioned for not applying the same standards of her so-called journalism across the board when interviewing Democrats. According to John Ziegler, If we lived in a world where journalistic standards still mattered at all, she would have been roundly condemned for it [Palin interview].

“Sarah should have known better than to go do this with Couric. I never understood why she wanted to give Couric the interview-it was a big score for Couric.”
If I recall correctly, Governor Palin did not want to do anymore interviews with the dipshit after the first one went so poorly. It was the McCain people who made her do them. Being the team player that she is , she did them, even though she didn’t think she should have.
Self deleting what I think Couric should get for that interview.
Last week’s ratings:
Total Viewers: NBC: 8,740,000 / ABC: 7,950,000 / CBS: 5,970,000
25-54 demo: NBC: 2,700,000 / ABC: 2,330,000 / CBS: 1,760,000
Consider her award a ‘bailout’.
Of course she should. Propagandists self-aggrandizement awards are as necessary as academy awards. They are self perpetuating meme.
How many Courics does the award weigh?
Yeah. It doesn’t even bother me anymore. These “awards” are dogshit and it makes no sense to be offended that they are given; I am just offended that either party exists.

(Lots more in this article, I just pulled from the middle. )
The Chicago Annenberg Challenge stands as Barack Obamas most important executive experience to date. By its own account, CAC was a largely a failure. And a series of critical evaluations point to reasons for that failure, including a poor strategy, to which the foundation over-committed in 1995, and over-reliance on community organizers with insufficient education expertise. The failure of CAC thus raises entirely legitimate questions, both about Obamas competence, his alliances with radical community organizers, and about Ayerss continuing influence over CAC and its board, headed by Obama. Above all, by continuing to fund Ayerss personal projects, and those of his political-educational allies, Obama was lending moral and material support to Ayerss profoundly radical efforts. Ayerss terrorist history aside, that makes the Ayers-Obama relationship a perfectly legitimate issue in this campaign.
Factcheck.org is part and parcel of the Annenberg Foundation. Factcheck was also chosen by the Obama campaign as the arbitrar of whether Obamas birth certificate, which purportedly proves hes a citizen of the United States, is authentic”. -—
Big surprise.
I just wish Republicans would learn and stop giving interviews to these bozos.
It’s the University of Southern California. What do you expect?
They would give a humanity award to Charles Manson.
“Sarah should have known better than to go do this with Couric. I never understood why she wanted to give Couric the interview-it was a big score for Couric.”
Unfortunately, if she decides to run in 2012, she will have to grant Couric an interview again.
I hope she demands a live interview, or gets final control of the tape.
Why in the world does Governor Palin “have to grant” Couric the time of day?
She had her chance. IMHO Governor Palin would win (far) more votes standing on principle and calling Couric what she is:
A partisan, for whom she has no time or use.
It’s (long) past time for Conservatives to stop playing as if journalists are actually journalists.
They’re not. They’re democrats.
Say so.
No, she will have to face Couric again. Otherwise, they will just keep repeating the 2008 interview.
However, I believe that Sarah will defeat Couric next time. Sarah will KO the perky one.
Agreed - It’s a sad day to be a Trojan.
Not as good as the Pulitzer the NYT won for covering up Stalin’s Ukraine genocide.
Or Arafat’s “Peace Prize.”
But close.
Agreed - It’s a sad day to be a Trojan.
Yep, old Walter screwed America but good. She deserves the award with his name.
