Couric To Win Award For Palin Interview
American Daily Review ^ | Thursday, April 9, 2009 | Douglas V. Gibbs

University of Southern California Annenberg School for Communication presenting CBS “Evening News” anchor Katie Couric with the Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Television Journalism

In a word, preposterous. The question I have is if she is getting this award for journalistic excellence, or for fulfilling her role in the liberal political agenda machine? The interview did, in fact, have a huge impact on the election. She achieved the result the Democrat’s desired.

Imagine, if you will, if one of her softballs to Obama had garnered similar devastating results and had brought down his candidacy. Would there have been any awards for her then?

Couric’s award has nothing to do with journalism. Her interview had nothing to do with innocently finding out more about the Republican offering for Vice President. The award, and the interview, are both all about a political agenda. She not only should not be receiving a reward for the Palin interview, she should have been questioned for not applying the same standards of her so-called journalism across the board when interviewing Democrats. According to John Ziegler, “If we lived in a world where journalistic standards still mattered at all, she would have been roundly condemned for it [Palin interview].”

This might be the outrage of all outrages. This is the typical smack in the face of conservatives that comes anytime awards are given out, such as the likes of Al Gore, Hillary Clinton, and Nobama having Grammy awards for their books , yet someone like Bill O'Reilly, for instance, whose books stay on the best sellers lists for months and months never wins anything.

For this talentless, idiot to be given an award for anything ,let alone her almost obscene ,planned ambush interview with Governor Palin, is appalling.

media has gone far from just being bias. Media is corrupt. They lie, they mislead. Remember the media edited the Palin church speech, to say that that the Iraq War was from God

I know and that’s why I find it appalling.

Truly incredible. This must mean Couric slept with all of them ~ one at a time, groups maybe?

She's so disgusting ~ and so are they.

It’s not preposterous. It’s natural... liberals awarding liberals for being liberal. Courick richly deserves the Cronkite Award. Afterall Cronkite was one of the most vile communist traitors and the pioneer of leftist agenda-driven MSM propaganda. I can’t think of anyone more worthy of the Cronkite Award than Courick.

Makes perfect sense. Zero used to work for Annenberg. Why wouldn’t they award the person who helped vilify an opponent of Annenberg’s favored candidate?

This is obviously Colonic’s Reward for asking one of the stupidest and inane questions ever asked. Sarah was polite when she answered. I would have spit in Couric’s eye and ended the Interview calling Colonic an Idiotic Moron! WE American Republicans and Patriots have got to realize these Morons have declared War on America and Us and cannt be treated with the respect that We still give them.

She achieved the result the Democrats desired.

Can we have some commentaries written by literate people, please?

I always loved Ann Coulter’s description of Ms. Couric: “The affable Eva Braun of morning TV.”

She’s a twit, and far below Sarah Palin in looks and brains. I personally think she is jealous of Sarah’s natural beauty.

Couric purposely asked that question to throw her off, and that kind of journalism wouldn’t be ethical in any of our 57 states!

PAAALEEEASE! These DNC groupies create awards for each other and then give them out in order to validate the fact that they are lazy, low talented leaches; parasites that feed on their liberal, socialists hosts.

The declining audiences for their outlets - TV-liberal talk shows-newspapers-magazines, leaves no doubt about the opinions of their target market. So they create these meaningless awards to boost their egos and validate their usefulness within our social structure.

Annenberg? As in the Annenberg Foundation that placed Bill Ayers and Barack Obama on the same boards?

Sarah should have known better than to go do this with Couric. I never understood why she wanted to give Couric the interview-it was a big score for Couric.

Just read your post. I couldn’t agree more. I can’t believe people are so blind as to what is right in front of them.

"The interview did, in fact, have a huge impact on the election."

Actually, it didn't. People rarely decide not to vote for a someone for president based on their VP running mate. It was the Financial crisis and McCain's poor handling of it, that had the HUGE impact.

Had McCain denounced the Bush plan and suggested a fiscally stringent plan of his own, he would be sitting in the white house today.
