A recent U.S. Bureau of Census report indicates that 40% of unwed births in the U.S. in 2007 were out of wedlock. In California that percentage was 41.1%.

What the press failed to report however is that Latinos represented 65%, or about two thirds, of all the unwed births in California. As a category, Whites came in a distant second at nearly 19%. See retabulated U.S. Census data below:

California Unwed Births 2007 Total Unwed Births: 232,966 Total Wed & Unwed Births: 566,352

Unwed Births:

Latino 151,440 65.1%

White 43,660 18.7%

Black 22,879 9.8%

Asian 12,630 5.4%

American Indian 2,357 1.0%

I love a good stat as much as the next guy but does that mean that 60% of unwed births in the U.S. in 2007 were from married couples?? Married or not don’t hispanic families (included extended) stay together?

Makes me wonder, I work with three white girls who have children by black boys, would their children be listed as unwed white, unwed black or both?

If they study, stay in school, and get jobs?
White privilege.

If they’re hardcore thugs by age 14, drop out, and are repeatedly let off the hook for increasingly violent crimes until they finally face an adult charge that might stick?
“Minorities” deserving of more leniency and a government check.

In either case, white when it comes to individual limitations. “Minority” when it comes to collective numbers, redistricting, funding for redistributive programs, and any other agenda that benefits from inflated numbers.

Isn’t it the case that, by definition, 100% of unwed births are out of wedlock?

A recent U.S. Bureau of Census report indicates that 40% of unwed births in the U.S. in 2007 were out of wedlock.

Well, I guess that means that the other 60% of unwed births in the U.S. in 2007 were in wedlock.

Don't you love it when the very first sentence of an article is gibberish?

Regards,
