A new Rasmussen Reports poll says only 53 percent of American adults believe capitalism is better than socialism. But what if the poll questions went like this:
1. Do want to pick your own doctor
or would you prefer to wait for one all day in an overcrowded hallway between a slobbering drunk who keeps farting and drooling on your shoulder and a man with no legs oozing something green that puddles and forms a trail toward your shoe?

That means about eight percent of those who voted for McCain also agree with this poll...Wow!
He should have asked about the choice between capitalism and fascism.
How much money do I have?
We’re doomed.
Friends of mine grew up in Bulgaria. They came to the states shortly after the USSR fell apart. They were amazed at the variety of goods in stores. they would wander the mall for hours.
They tell me story’s of waiting for hours to buy potatoes, or toilet paper. A new TV cost a years pay and took 5 years. They ordered their son’s car when he was born.
To be honest, not all socialism is Soviet-style. My guess is that people associate socialism with northern Europe, like Sweden or The Netherlands. Not defending it but I think a lot of people see socialism through rose-colored glasses.
That said, I find that survey pretty unbelievable. Capitalism has been taking a hard hit lately. I hope it turns around.
As bizarre as it sounds, Capitalism's hope lies in the Asian economies - China, India, SE Asia (including Vietnam). Even those countries nominally Communist are rushing towards fully capitalist economies.
Three billion people (China, India, SE Asia) are rushing from Socialism/Communism/Fascism and towards Capitalism. Meanwhile the US seems to be rushing headlong towards the very thing those 3 billion people are fleeing.
If things don't change pretty soon, we'll end up trading places. They'll end up where the US was in the 50s and 60s, and we'll end up where they were in the 50s and 60s. That's not a fair trade!
“My guess is that people associate socialism with northern Europe, like Sweden or The Netherlands.”
People hear “free money” and thats all they think about. We are headed into a draconian form of socialism / totalitarianism. It will be controlled by anti-christian forces until the muslims push their way in.
We are in trouble.
Not really. All we have to do is kick all the rinos out of the party, and all will be well.
I wish Americans could understand and appreciate what we have, but, no, they want “change” instead.
What do your friends think of the direction we’re headed now?
Actually, sometimes I do that.
It is a harbinger of things to come.
Which means that it is GOING TO GET WORSE, much worse!!
Because Americans are educated only to love liberalism, we now have to repeat the mistakes of the last century. Go ahead, America, be stupid!
I just saw a junker car parked outside my office with the bumpersticker “Raise my Taxes! Invest in Minnesota”
I can tell you that the average American does not know the difference between the two. I speak with people all the time about this and most have no clue what socialism really is about. They think that Europe seems to be doing ok and they are socialist so it must be ok. People need to be educated. Then again, a truly free and honorable people would never even consider socialism anyway.

I lived in Germany for three years...it was most certainly not doing okay then. This was before the EU...and how has it fared since the EU? It’s utter schiesse.
