The UK Times Online has this response to the excerpts from Bob Dylan's interview with Bill Flanagan that were published yesterday: After the summer of love, Bob Dylan backtracks on Barack Obama.
Up until now it had been a mutual love affair.
As the campaign for the American presidency gathered pace last June, Bob Dylan lent his support to Barack Obama, telling The Times that his candidacy was “redefining the nature of politics”.
In return Mr Obama described the singer as an icon, and boasted of having “probably 30 Dylan songs on my iPod”, including “the entire Blood on the Tracks album”.
But in an interview to be published on Dylan’s website today, the hero of 1960s counterculture seems to have cooled on the prospects of the recently elected American leader.
Asked if he thought that Mr Obama would make a good president, the singer said that he had no idea.
What's that old saying or warning about the press? "They'll build you up and then they'll tear you down." This is a particularly perverse twist on that concept. The media created the story of the "mutual love affair" between Bob Dylan and Barack Obama, and now somehow Dylan is to blame for not playing along.

Maybe even ol’ Bob will come to understand that the mainstream news media IS the enemy.
I guess Bob must have put the bong down long enough to see what a chump Obama is.
And a lot of German voters backtracked after 1933, when they found that they had made an oopsie. 2008 will go down in history as even worse, and anyone too stubborn to admit a mistake of that magnitude should be ashamed of himself/herself/itself (DU lurkers and trolls, this means you!).
Everybody wants to claim the Zimster. I just want to hear his new album.
The new album sounds like a kicker, can’t wait.
If Democrats wanted a “rock star” they should have elected Bob (Robert Zimmerman)Dylan. Dylan would be ten times more entertaining and obviously knows how the economy works.
You should have seen their orgasms when Bob’s radio show themed “Nothing” on the last week of the Bush administration and “Something” on the first week of Zero’s.
Ping.
Dylan aint a druggie, hasn’t been for 40+ years.
Not really. That Russian writer had it right when he observed that the line between good and evil runs right through every human heart. I bet a dollar Dylan agrees as well.
That Right Wing Bob is a pretty smart feller. He knows how to listen and actually think about what has been said.
