The first place that we may witness this civil disobedience is in the form of non-payment of taxes. The most conscientious patriots among us may well decide that they will not under any circumstance help fund a government that has lost its legitimacy.
And yes, such an act is considered unlawful and some could be jailed.
But according to the philosophy of the men who founded this Republic, there comes a point in time when governments can lose their legitimacy due to their penchant for limiting freedoms and robbing citizens of their hard-earned money in the form of oppressive taxation.
Thus, with the Constitution and the writings of the Founders as their guide, these brave souls may well collectively say to Washington, 'I can no longer in good conscience provide funds for this government.'
This act of non-compliance to taxation may also involve some businesses which are owned by these brave patriots. Self-employed persons do not have taxes taken out of their checks prior to their receiving the money, but they must pay the government in the form of quarterly tax payments.
But this by no means is the only option for those who wish to engage in effective civil disobedience. There are less draconian tactics to get the attention of a government that is apparently out of touch with most Americans.
This article outlines some of those tactics that could be of immense value.
An example:
Imagine that every working American walked into work tomorrow and changed their W-4 to 20 exemptions. This would immediately remove $1.2 trillion of taxes from the grasp of politicians in Washington. You could bet that would get the attention of the political hacks in Washington...

Dicey stuff for a Reagan Conservative.
Best regards to all,
“And yes, such an act is considered unlawful and some could be jailed.”
unless you are a democrap appointee, that is.
This is my plan.
My wife and I are buying a house. Between the mortgage and property tax deductions, and every legal deduction we can cram in there, we will end up paying almost nothing.
If the Dear and Beloved Leader was to usher in our glorious Socialist future, he ain’t gonna have my money to do it with.
E-mails, letters and even calling do not seem to matter anymore to the people we elected to represent us in Congress.
Heres a thought: when Congress was busy huffing and puffing about those evil AIG bonuses, no one gave it a second thought when the thuggish ACORN rent-a-mob went on a bus tour of AIG employees homes.
So, what if someone were to create a database containing all the HOME addresses of these professional thieves in Congress (both their D.C. and state home addresses) and distribute it widely across the internet?
A few peaceful public gatherings at their ritzy D.C. townhomes and gated estates might make them think twice as they continue to tax us and our children into a banana republic-style poverty.
“Imagine a one day national strike coinciding with the largest March on Washington in the history of the Republic. This would surely change the dialogue in the country. The lightweight politicians in Washington DC would cave immediately.”
There are many state and local Tea Parties - Taxpayer Rallies
set for April 15th, 2009. I think if we all attended one of these for sure, it would sent a powerful message to state and national politicians. If the Tea Party movement isn’t enough, a national strike may have to be the next step.
bttt
That isn't civil disobedience. That is UNPATRIOTIC according to Uncle Joe Biden.
Unless you are a member of the Obama administration, then "taxes are voluntary" (and YES they have advanced this argument).
What a stupid place to start “civil disobedience”. Not paying taxes due? yer screwed from the start. No such act, short of massively coordinated, would come anywhere near sufficient effect to matter.
Knowing what exactly the law requires, however, may lead to enlightening above-board options. The best alternative to the above-proposed idiocy is self-sufficiency: reduce your costs & taxable income such that there is nothing to object to - and little for the greedy to confiscate and abuse to their own ends.
Most are unaware that the way our society works, ways that are loudly debated & derided, are merely a matter of choice of cooperation. Outside that mainstream are many who function unnoticed and freer.
While this bit of modern-retro soul-funk (What If We All Stopped Paying Taxes) from Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings was recorded during the Bush Administration, it seems more appropriate than ever.
Bet it's been dropped from their set lists.
And gotta dig "Vote Early - Vote Often" on the record label.
There are more ways to tax you than just on income, there are revenue tickets (fines) for a variety of “offenses” as well as sin taxes (on everything from soda pop to strippers to tobacco).
And imagine if everyone exercised their 2nd Amendment Right at this march...
One big thing that two-income families can do is to become one-income families. When you factor in the cost of child-care, extra dry-cleaning, needing to buy pre-prepared meals, having to have help cleaning the house, the need for a second commuter care, the second income doesn't really add that much to the net financial picture.
What a brilliant plan, spend billions to build concentration camps to intern non tax payers and then whoever is left must support the cost of housing and feeding and guarding these millions of dissenters.
Most of America will become prison camps, and all these prisoners are also unable to buy anything, unable to work jobs, unable to have businesses.
What then Barry? do you then move them underground and call them Eloi?
Lets toss the bum out of office, or just change the locks while they are out of town.
America can eventually heal itself without having someone around constantly hitting us in the shins.
Explain THAT to my wife.
Obama will hire ACORN-ites for the IRS. He will squeeze every penny owed to his government and then some, and publicly destroy and jail those who dissent to dissuade others.
We should not have to change our way of life - we need Congress to change theirs!

See you in D.C.!
It wouldn't even make the news, the State Run Media would ignore it just as they are ignoring the Tea Parties...
