As we march towards full throttled European-style socialism replete with massive increases in federal government spending, astronomical budget deficits, higher taxation, and government takeover of major industries, I think many of our fellow countrymen have forgotten why we fought the Revolutionary War to begin with. We fought to be free of Europe, not to be like Europe. We fought for the rights of the individual, not the masses. We fought for the rights of property owners and gun owners, not the urban proletariat. We fought for limited republican form of government, not an all powerful parliamentry system vulnerable to the whims of the masses. We fought for the rights of farmers, ranchers, and small businessmen to be free of excess taxation and intervention, not for the rights of powerful bureaucrats and labor unions. We fought for the rights of state and local governments, not for the rights of a centralized powerful government in Washington D.C.
The Old Republic is now but a distant memory. Our freedoms are being trampled upon. Our government is out of control. Our government thinks it can solve our economic problems without understanding it is the source of our economic problems.
Yesterday I attended Mass in downtown Los Angeles and I listened to our Cardinal call for a new holiday honoring Cesar Chavez. We now have too many federal holidays including one for a married clergyman who had the personal morals of an alley cat and who openly associated with known Communists and security risks. Our Cardinal also called for ICE to stop making raids and deporting illegal aliens, and for comprehensive immigration reform (read open borders and lax enforcement policies). The Mass was conducted in Spanish and now I see the value of returning to the Tridentine Mass which was conducted in Latin with the priest facing the altar and there was no talk of socialistic domestic policies. I was ready to vomit in the pews yesterday listening to all of this.
I am well familiar with the Parable of the Good Samaratin and helping foreigners and those in need but this is crazy. Jesus also said, "I leave you peace, my peace I give you." Anyone who lives in city or region overwhelmed by illegal aliens knows there is no peace as our neighborhoods under a literal state of seige by gangbangers, drug dealers, and other criminals and terrorists sneaking across our porous borders. Our infrastructure including schools, jails, hospitals, and roads are overwhelmed by illegal aliens. But the Cardinal urged all of us to work with BHO to make things better for "undocumented workers". Whatever happened to the rights of property owners and taxpayers, the folks on whose behalf this country was originally founded? The simple truth is this: Illegal immigration undermines the rule of law, our national security, our public infrastructure, and promotes chaos, lawlessness and anarchy. Why doesn't the Catholic Church get this? Are they that desperate for more congregants in the pews regardless of the other consequences? This is sheer madness.
Something must be done to stop it. We must get back to the ideals which founded this great country to begin. I'm tired of honoring the likes of MLK, BHO, and Cesar Chavez. How about honoring those who fought for the rights of the individual as opposed to the rights of a particular ethnic or racial group for a change? Let's honor Dr. Milton Friedman, Adam Smith, Whittaker Chambers, and Ronald Reagan. Men who really did fight for limited government, individual liberty and responsibility and who stood up to evil tyranny.
This is a call to arms. We need to do some community organizing of our own. We need to organize our local gun owners, small businessmen, farmers, ranchers, military, police officers, law enforcement, taxpayers, religious leaders. Our country is being systematically destroyed and turned into a European style socialist monstrosity. Our legislators are passing spending bills that spend way beyond what our federal government is taking in. They are not even reading the bills before voting on them. I cannot fathom anything more irresponsible than this.
What can we do? Anything and everything. We must mobilize and fight. Call your congressman and senators. Urge them to vote against all these irresponsible spending bills. Write letters to the editor. Attend a tea party. But most importantly vote against EVERY politician with a "D" after their name in next year's midterm elections. The Democrats are secular Marxists and Socialists pure and simple as is their leader. We must send a loud message that we're not gonna take it, never did and never will. As Edmund Burke once said all that is neccessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing. Ain't that the truth!
Then there are those descendants of American heroes who have consciously decided to forego their own inheritance. Those people are the ones who fell under the sway of the Progressives, and later, the Communists. I think they are a small minority of the problem, but they come to the fore when a major economic crisis unfolds, and they take advantage of it.
"We the People" are about 1/3 of the inhabitants of this country, the same fraction that fought and won the revolution.
Funny how I keep seeing “a call to arms” which culminates in - doing exactly the same thing that we’ve been doing, that is giving our opinion to leaders who don’t care, and voting against candidates whose supporters outnumber us.
Yeah, that’ll help. Methinks there is a widespread misunderstanding of what “a call to arms” means.
Calling clever graphics freepers ... to ... er ... arms ...
ping
"Throw the Bums Out!"
An actual “call to arms” is going to be necessary far sooner than later.
We aren’t walking toward socialism, we’re running toward textbook fascism.
Ladies and Gentlemen:
Here is by far the best quote of the day and I got it from Rush Limbaugh’s website:
“We don’t need to worry about infiltration from foreign enemies. It’s being done from the White House.”
No truer words have ever been spoken!
Tick...Tock...Tick..Tock.....The clock is ticking.
“Methinks there is a widespread misunderstanding of what a call to arms means.”
Well.....you can use this phrase many ways. But I will tell you one thing I am hearing more of this talk everyday and not just on Forums. It is scaring me a bit.
“Throw the Bums Out!”
I fear it is too late for that.
Not if several million of us marched on the capitol and, non-violently of course, handed them out into the street.
I think the homily you listened to is not something that Pope Benedict XVI would approve.
Even HE said that the subject of Abortion trumps “social justice” in every venue.
And what you listened to was “liberation theology” . . . hmmm, I’m going to work on a yard sign (home made) . . . to counter liberation theology.
Boy, that would be a beautiful sight indeed.
What we need in something similar to storming the bastille like the french did. I think that is the only way to get their attention.
I told someone this morning that I would go now... If he would send the gas money :).
I think a huge convoy from coast to coast would be awesome. We would have to make sure of places to stay along the way. I would be coming from southern Arizona. Any ranchers or people out there willing to give shelter to people who would participate in this? I don’t know.
The only problem will be folks packing heat. One hot head could cause hundreds of folks to get shot. The LEOs would be waiting for an armed response to the harrassment that will be certainly handed out. Sounds like fun though!
