U.S. Homeland Security Dept. Preparing for Possible Collapse of Mexican Government - Video 3/26/09

Here is a report tonight on Special Report with Bret Baier that says the Department of Homeland Security is preparing a contingency plan for the possible collapse of the Mexican Government. Warring drug cartels have killed thousands in Mexico over the past year, and the Mexican Government seems incapable of bringing the situation under control. Should the government collapse, the United States fears thousands of Mexicans will attempt to flee across the U.S. Border (in addition to the thousands who are already getting in illegally!). What a nightmare scenario the Southern Border could become if the Mexican Government totally collapses. . . . . . . (Watch Video Report)

I live in El Paso. The fence is a joke. They can walk across the bridge. An interesting solution you have come up with.

Post armed American citizens on the Mexican border, as we should be doing anyway.

“And, and Hillary Clinton said today that the Mexican border war is NOT a national security threat.”

Translation: We’ve probably got less than a month...

I have had several Americans who live in Mexico, and several who travel in Mexico tell me that this is all hype. I believe what I read and hear on the news but frankly, I am feeling a little confused by all the conflicting stories. We decided a number of years ago, after having a couple of bad experiences in Mexico, that we would not go back, and we are sticking to it.

It is not hype, nor are the thousands of maquila(factory) women workers that have been killed. Interior Mexico can be nice, but the border towns are cesspools.

How many fled north during the Mexican Revolution?

While hillary blames U.S. for much of mexico's violence... Insanity..... If they fall, it's their fault. No one elses.

[You have about 15 families, all with drug/corruption ties that own basically everything. . .]

The oligarchy has always been the main obstacle to democracy, civil rights and economic development. Their monopolies stifle competition and pay scales and breed the economic refugees that have flooded the U.S. The institutionalized corruption they foster reaches all the way to Washington. That may be why we spend billions on border security and social services for illegals instead of surgically removing the cabal that causes all this misery.

With 12 million here already, "thousands" just sounds pitiful. What? Are there so few left to flee?
