Faith of our fathers! living still
In spite of dungeon, fire and sword
Oh, how our hearts beat high with joy
Where'er we hear that glorious word
Faith of our fathers! holy faith!
We will be true to Thee till death

The English hymn (1849), "Faith of Our Fathers", remains one of the most revered and popular in Christianity. It was played and sung at the funerals of presidents Chester Arthur and Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

This hymn reminds us all of the sacrifices and many times, martydom, made by those in every branch of the Christian family who have passed their faith down to us. It's our sacred trust to pass it down to those who follow us.
