Thanks for that. I wish we could see an original, but I imagine if there are any out there, they have been washed away from history except on microfish.

The problem is no one else does either. No one has replicated it. And you cannot make a claim such as that and go into hiding. You got to stand up and prove it.

There are still plenty of old geezers around who remember how stuff was done back in the day.

Who are you?

I ask you for some links and you reply with a generalization about what geezers remember. Who are these geezers you cite? Do they have names and faces; or are they some imaginary friends of yours?

See post #48. They are presumably people HRC supporter Lori Starfelt spoke to when she attempted to disqualify BHO but instead wound up bolstering the cred of his Hawaiian birth.

You might find this article in the Honolulu Advertiser interesting.

The cottage behind the house at 6085 Kalaniana'ole Highway may have been Obama's parents' rooms when they lived with the Dunhams.

Here's a quote in the Star Bulletin from a local Obama fan who started researching his Hawaiian history:

"I started to try to connect with Obama more on a personal basis instead of as a historian. Instead of (only) going to the Internet, it forced me to actually go back to the library. To get the clipping of his birth announcement, I had to wade through all the microfilm. Going through the paper on the day he was born is just amazing!"
Libraries. Damned microfilm. Pesky things if you're a birther!

Now you call me names, and send me to links which report stuff that I have indicated I do not believe has been misrepresented. I even said on THIS thread that I had difficulties with the questions being raised about these announcements. But you talk about what geezers remember, and when I ask you which ones or who, you blow smoke. You are a disgrace to FreeRepublic.

Oooooh. "A cottage that may have been Obama's parents' rooms when they lived with the Dunhams." You see this is all BS to me. I live in the zip code where Grover Cleveland's birthplace is. Cleveland was born more than a century before Obama. No radio, no telephone, no cameras, and no one questions where it is that Cleveland was born. Everything about Obama seems to be makebelieve, and this includes his origins. This is troubling to me, but maybe not to a smokeblower, such as yourself.

Now you call me names

Names? I didn't call you a name. Unless, of course, you are a birther. (Or maybe a geezer, but that would make two of us.) But your earlier posts indicated you actually doubted this here Linotype argument. That would argue that you are not a birther, since birthers reflexively grab onto whatever thin reeds they think they see swirling about.

BTW, that Advertiser story quotes Kapiolani Medical Center spokeswoman Claire Tong on the hospital records issue:

"We can't confirm or deny it — even though all the information out there says he was born at Kapiolani Hospital. And that's because of the HIPA law."

Tong acknowledged that the center has received daily inquiries from news agencies far and wide asking for confirmation of Obama's birthplace. Much as she wishes she could do it, Tong said it's not possible.

"Our hands are tied," she said.

So, it's quite possible the records exist. It's even possible they contain something embarrassing to the Messiah. Maybe even something affecting electability. But certainly nothing bearing on eligibility. Nothing that could support the birther thesis.

So that's it. Your hero hides behind some law that wouldn't protect him if he want an NJ Driver's License. If there were questions about your birth, and you could stand on some supposed right you had to keep the information secret, would you? Or would you resolve any doubts and waive these suppose rights to secrecy?

What if he knows there's nothing there, and can easily prove it if push ever comes to shove, but meanwhile enjoys watching his opponents chase their tails and waste their time getting slapped down in the courts? Keeps 'em busy and harmless, don't you know.

As for getting a New Jersey driver's license, I'm sure that piece of paper FactCheck photographed would be more than adequate.

Yep. Transparent enough, as long as the sheeple [singular form: LIV — low information voter] like what they see.

One or two days ago browardchad (IIRC, I’ll check my comments page) responded to a comment/question about Kapiolani, and it seemed to be that Kapiolani had a delivery unit but not apparently at the same address as now. If I can find the comment I’ll ping you to it. I’ve done google searching a couple of times trying to find the history of Kapiolani and their history of actual deliveries.

When I broke the explosive exclusive last June that Obama's COLB (certificate of live birth) was a "horrible forgery,"

What's wrong with this statement? Oh, let me count the ways:

1. Pam Geller did not post her "exclusive" until July 4, and it was not an "exclusive." Three weeks before she posted anything, I posted my exclusive on The Greater Evil.

2. I was the first one, and the only one, who provided genuine evidence that Obama's COLB was a forgery. I still am the only one.

3. The person who wrote her "explosive exclusive," is a guy named "TechDude," WHO I EXPOSED as an identity thief, a liar, and a fraud shortly after his "explosive exclusive" was posted on July 20. Of course, I've always suspected his work. Not only did Techdude steal the identity of Adam Fink, a real forensic document expert, he lied about his research and totally fabricated his evidence, beginning with the clearly fraudulent claim that the border patterns on all COLBs issued between 2005 and 2008 were identical (which I proved was false given that I had received genuine scans of 2006, 2007, and 2008 COLBs. The border pattern on 2008 COLBs was totally different from both 2007 and 2006 COLBS which shared the same border pattern).

4. Pam Geller has NEVER acknowledged that TechDude is an identity thief, a liar, and a fraud, despite the overwhelming evidence to the contrary -- nor has she ever quoted a single finding out of my 160-page Final Report which summarizes my four months of empirical research.

There is a lot of Geller's work that I admire, but the fact that she continues this charade unabated is puzzling, as it only serves to undercut her integrity and credibility.

NOW, about the birth announcement, what in the world is her "expert" talking about? Here's what he says (followed by my comments):

1) Line spacing: the mechanics of a Linotype Machine in building the column which will be set to the bed of the printer are mechanically restricted to have the same amount of "white space" between the lines. The first one does not; it is crunched into the announcement immediately above it.

It seems like this expert does not understand that what he's looking at is a photostatic copy of a section of microfilm. Microfilm is photographically reproduced from a sheet of newspaper, and not from a bed of type. Consequently, if there were any folds in the paper, they would show up in the microfilm. If there were any other distress marks on the paper, as there are in the Star Bulletin photostat, then they would show up in the microfilm.

I had one of the lawyers on the Keyes case make a photostatic copy of two slides of microfilm: one made from the birth announcement that appeared in the Sunday Advertiser AND the other one made from the same birth announcement that appeared in the Star Bulletin. I asked him to look for any signs of the film being spliced, or any other telltale signs that would distinguish this slide of microfilm from those of the preceding and following days.

He found none.

Here are the copies he made of both:

One of the downsides of microfilm (that does not affect microfiche) is that the more it's viewed, the more frequent will be the scratches that the film collects as it is rolled in and out of the viewer. Those long, vertical streaks you see in the Star Bulletin copy are these scratches.

Notice how there are horizontal lines visible in the Sunday Advertiser copy, but are not visible in the copy shown on Atlas Shruggs. I believe that her copy was one circulated a few months ago, well before the ones I had made, so I cannot vouch for their place of origin or authenticity. I can for mine.

Her expert continues:

2) Likewise the "white space" between adjacent columns is mechanically fixed; the "6085" intrudes leftward into that space.

Again, I do not see any differences in the horizonal layout of the address. The kerning between letters (the white space) on a line of type is adjusted so that it fills the entire space, regardless of the length of the street address. Such words as "Highway" and "Boulevard" are abbreviated whereever necessary to make it fit on the line. With short street addresses, the reverse is true: more kerning between letters is used to spread the address out.

If you see something that I don't, then please let me know.

3) Unlike all the other announcements, there is no "period" at the end of the line after the date of delivery/birth.

I see a period at the end of the line. It is identical to the Asing announcement right below it -- it even has the same date.

I miss the significance of his last point,"Most Front Pages back in the 50's-60's were either six or eight columns wide, with the internal pages usually narrower, 8, 10, or 12 wide. Humans love symmetry. Any realignment of the various headers, illustrations, advertisements, etc., would be set by hand, not by the LT machine...Seems to me those "Birth Announcements" must have come from the same or similar source as Dan Rather's 'Bush National Guard' documents!

Beckwith would disagree. This explanation does not provide any facts that would substantiate the claim that both the Sunday Advertiser and the Star Bulletin would have laid out their birth Announcement pages as six columns wide.

These birth announcements share space with in-line ads that very in size. They are not like the typical classifieds section of today where print space is at a premium and the more columns one can fit on a page, the more profit can be made.

At one point, I, too, was convinced that the birth announcements were forged, but the more likely scenario - the one substantiated by fact -- that birth announcements were routinely sent in by telephone, and were not solely and exclusively reprinted from reports provided by Vital Statistics.

In other words, either Ann or Madelyn Dunham telephoned in a slightly bogus birth announcement.

Thanks for the analysis.

That was the conclusion that I was coming to even as an amateur—that the distortions in the photo of the birth announcement were caused by camera angle and folds or wrinkles in the newspaper. For instance, the left margin of the column is slanted—not because it was really slanted, but because of the camera angle or the way the newspaper was laid down to be photographed.

I couldn’t see any of the signs claimed here that the announcement was faked.

But I certainly wouldn’t put it past Ann Dunham’s family to fake the information that they phoned in to the newspaper.
