Obama Trumpets Commitment To Disabled Vets While Stabbing Them In The Back

This is so like Barack Obama.

The man who is responsible for piling on more debt than every president from George Washington to George W. Bush - COMBINED - while simultaneously preaching "fiscal responsibility" can pretty much twist anything into anything.

So no one should be very surprised that Obama would tout his championing of Veterans' issues even as he moves behind the scenes to commit the mother of all backstabbings.

As CNN reported:

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki confirmed Tuesday that the Obama administration is considering a controversial plan to make veterans pay for treatment of service-related injuries with private insurance.
You can see Barack Obama doing his stump speech somewhere (ubiquitous teleprompter present to keep him from looking like the incoherent moron he really is feeding him his lines, of course) with his arm around a veteran on crutches with his legs destroyed by some roadside bomb. When the photo-op is over, Obama pulls back his arm and says, "Now why don't you limp off somewhere else?"

As a disabled, service-connected veteran, let me add my voice to the chorus: keep your greasy mitts off the VA, okay, Barry Hussein?

This brings the age-old hatred Democrats have for the military to a whole new low. I'm guessing this is in response to the polite contempt Marines displayed for Obama when his political buttsmooching tour took him their way.

Demanding service-connected vets to pay for the care of their own wounds isn't any kind of reform; it's rather about as twisted as you can get. What are you going to do if a kid can't pay for private insurance, Barry Hussein: make him crawl around on his stumps?

Every day is a cause for renewed outrage with this Weasel-in-Chief...

Update March 17: the American Legion is suitably outraged over Obama's betrayal of veterans:

WASHINGTON, March 16 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The leader of the nation's largest veterans organization says he is "deeply disappointed and concerned" after a meeting with President Obama today to discuss a proposal to force private insurance companies to pay for the treatment of military veterans who have suffered service-connected disabilities and injuries. The Obama administration recently revealed a plan to require private insurance carriers to reimburse the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in such cases.

"It became apparent during our discussion today that the President intends to move forward with this unreasonable plan," said Commander David K. Rehbein of The American Legion. "He says he is looking to generate $540-million by this method, but refused to hear arguments about the moral and government-avowed obligations that would be compromised by it."

The Commander, clearly angered as he emerged from the session said, "This reimbursement plan would be inconsistent with the mandate ' to care for him who shall have borne the battle' given that the United States government sent members of the armed forces into harm's way, and not private insurance companies. I say again that The American Legion does not and will not support any plan that seeks to bill a veteran for treatment of a service connected disability at the very agency that was created to treat the unique need of America's veterans!"

Commander Rehbein was among a group of senior officials from veterans service organizations joining the President, White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emmanuel, Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric Shinseki and Steven Kosiak, the overseer of defense spending at the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). The group's early afternoon conversation at The White House was precipitated by a letter of protest presented to the President earlier this month. The letter, co-signed by Commander Rehbein and the heads of ten colleague organizations, read, in part, " There is simply no logical explanation for billing a veteran's personal insurance for care that the VA has a responsibility to provide. While we understand the fiscal difficulties this country faces right now, placing the burden of those fiscal problems on the men and women who have already sacrificed a great deal for this country is unconscionable."

I was amazed at this.

Obama may have jumped the shark with this one.

That’s OK. MO-shell just now realized what it’s like for ‘military families’ with her latest visit. That should smooth things over. /major sarcasm alert!

I’ve come across a whole bunch of things where someone told me about it and I was like, “No way.”

And then I fact-checked it and, yep, Obama’s done it or is trying to do it.

He is an evil man, and his agenda is definitely NOT pro-American.

Words lose their value in the face of such tyranny.

Obama has not stabbed any competent vets in the back.

Any man worth his pay knows to keep your weapon clean, never sit with your back to the door, and listen to what a politician says. Those who listened were stabbed in the chest - they saw it coming. Only a fool could have missed the socialist's intent. Otherwise, the article is on target.

Obama is the most disingenuous person who has ever occupied the public stage, more so than even Bill Clinton with his alligator tears on demand at the Brown funeral service. There is absolutely no connection between what is going on in Obama’s mind and what comes out of his mouth. Words are nothing more than a tool for him. He looks at the task at hand and uses whatever words he feels the task requires.

I would like to feel that he will not get away with what he's up to, but I felt the same about Bill Clinton and he has come out on top thus far, at least as he perceives the top.

The saddest thing about the Obama abomination is that he has absolutely no idea just how clueless he is. He is the proverbial silver tongued devil, but his dulcet, pear-shaped tones convey nothing more than his own inflated opinion of himself.

I would like to think that sooner or later his total lack of character will become apparent to everyone. But I am realist enough to know that we might never have the satisfaction of that outcome.

This maggot shits on our wounded soldiers and veterans while his Orwellian healthcare plan makes the rest of us pay for medical services for every undocumented migrant greasebag that scurries across the border in the dead of night.

This republic will not survive until 2012.

I understand the spirit you're speaking in: if you voted for this chump, you deserve whatever happens. I agree with you, as far as that goes.

But, as a service-connected disabled vet myself, who has been on one long "LOOK AT THIS EVIL MAN!" rant ever since Jeremiah Wright and Obama's 23 years in a vile church issue came out, I'M STILL one of the people getting stabbed now.

And the fact that I saw so much of this crap coming doesn't make it any less despicable.

He is the proverbial silver tongued devil

Well, Obama is the proverbial silver-tongued devil as long as he has a teleprompter to read. Otherwise, he's a bumbling fool.

Just had to say that :>

I’m a dues-paying member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart myself, but support the American Legion - particularly after THIS garbage.

Just when you think he’s scraping the bottom, he manages to
come up with fresh vilness. A freeper on another thread
said that this much stupid doesn’t happen by accident. All
part of some heinous plan to destroy all that is good in
our country.

This is disgusting.

Another thing that burns me up is the money spent on illegals. Imagine if we took all that money nationwide that they use and instead used it to treat our veterans.

You’re sure right.

I liked the way Viking2002 put it above.

Let’s take away our veterans’ health care - even for their service-connected injuries - so we can give it to illegal immigrants.

I heard on the news from one of the WH reporters that the Obamas were busy planning the “health care system’ and wanted to do it without distraction or public debate. I was flabbergasted. No public input whilst these commies, and that is what they are, wreck our health care system which is not broke and is the finest in the world. We the People are a distraction.

But attacking wounded vets with service connected disabiity acquired in battle will not stand in this country. If it does, we are through. But everyone sees those vets, those acgtive duty soldiers in airports and around, we all see what fine men they are. We clap for them, praise them and have taken them to our hearts.

This will not stand, this will finish this man. Mark my words. This is the turning point for this evil man.

I just heard on Dr. Laura from the Vet site that he has stepped back and changed his position on this.

Now it will not happen.
