I know I'm missed pinging a key player on this...IIRCD, from Florida, but it is too close to my bed time to remember who it is...but I know you'll know who els to ping.
Believe it or not, there is a bill being considered in Congress that would make it very difficult for any small farm to take their produce to market. Here on Riley's Farm, our ox is not being gored. We sell everything we grow right here, but agriculture is good for communities and anyone who wants to throttle it--on behalf of corporate oligarchies-- doesn't really have the best interest of America at heart.
Last I looked it was 'Big Ag/Big Marketing' that was trying to poison/infect me with E-coli & Salmonella.
It sure wasn't not my local growers' market; nor the people from whom I buy jams, syrups, pies, and other goodies at the local Crafts Show & Market, and at the booths at other local fund raisers.
Never had a health problem buying from our local bee keeper, either.
And if we ever manage to get enough water to get this place back into production, well, I plan on having our own booths.
NOW I remember who else I wanted to ping!
That’s how many prevailing businesses have been competing for a long time now, from saw mills to building developers to importers of manufactured products. Remember that, when you see self-described environmentalists trying to shut down a small business or home building effort. Find out who they’ve worked for and who they are related to (corporates).
At least the article title is funny.

How do you say No NAIS in Japanese?
Garden Ping...........
Calpernia does have a point —— the title is funny -— in a scary sort of way.
You mean like the rule that just killed the toy industry...
Perfect analogy.
I was justreading the entire content of the bill in opencongress.com
They equate raw milk to poison.
Need lists of potential pathogens on farms.
Require a USDA inspector any time food is processed.
Calls farms a class 2 food establishment requiring all kinds of reports and compliance.
Totally draconian.
Maybe it’s time for a collapse of our current federal government. They aren’t going to stop until we are all feudal serfs.
Farms, ranches, orchards, etc are exempt from being a regulated 'food establishment'...BUT, if they store and/or transport "for retail sale:" then they suddenly become a "Class 5 Food Establishment", and DO come within the scope.
IF the customer comes and picks fresh, it doesn't seem to come within the scope; BUT, if you pick it and "store" it and the customer comes to purchase; or, if you pick it and TRANSPORT it to the Farmers' Market, you also come under the scope.
Don't even THINK of "processing" --i.e. making jam, syrup, jelly, pickles, etc.-- any of your veggies, fruits, or other crops. If you do, you then come under one of the other categories, depending on how they interpret 'interstate commerce'.
The entire bill can be read here
If all of us plant a garden, then we will not be as easy to control and that defeats the communist way, of being all to all and keeping us in line, quietly.
“Operation Garden Kill” is a fitting title.
For that is the goal.

That makes the wonderful box of dehydrated vegetables that I just opened from a Freeper, illegal.
It also means no giving of foods to the poor as as Christmas Gifts.
A find communist control of our every thought and action.

It is scary, very scary.
Almost time to start our victory garden. Will you plant yours soon?
Pinging Gabz for our Garden Ping List, too! :)
