It would appear that homeless people in the nations capitol have come a long way thanks to the largesse of the Pelosi-Obama stimulus package.
First Lady Michelle Obama recently took time out from her magazine photo shoots for the covers of O and Vogue to pose as a food server at a homeless shelter not far from the White House. She even posed for one of homeless poseurs...

I was really late in getting a cell phone. Years ago, when I saw the homeless crack monsters, living in the woods behind big box stores in Florida with cell phones, I thought I should give in to the ‘fad’.
You see it all the time. Kids in projects carry them. Women using food cards talk on them. How do they pay the monthly service? Go figure.
This story ran last week on FR.
The menu at the homeless shelter looked pretty robust too.
No peanut butter or baloney sandwiches like I take for lunch.
Here ya go!
Get food stamps? Get a cellphone. For Free.
I am not kidding.

SafeLink Wireless is a government supported program
that provides a free cell phone and airtime each
month for income-eligible customers.
You know you are not supposed to do that Lautzu. Copyright violation. You’ll get in trouble for that.
Must see photo in the article, by the way.
Where do the homeless recharge their cell phones?
In their free subsidized housing.
Pay as you go plans are popular with the urban set
For example, I have a ghetto Tracphone. $100 got me a phone with 920 minutes and a 1.3 years of service. If I can stretch that 920 minutes, I will be paying about $6 a month for my cell phone. Many of the sophisticated urbanites get a $20 a month plan and let it lapse a few times. That’s why cell phone kiosks do so well at malls. I sat on a bench next to one in Richmond Va and learned all kinds of things about people’s cell phone habits. Many people began their conversation with the Pakistani guy by saying “They cut off my service”.
Also: "The First Lady surprised diners by serving up lunch at Miriam's Kitchen, in the basement of the Western Presbyterian Church in Foggy Bottom, which has been serving warm meals to the homeless for 26 years."
Twenty-six years! I half suspect some of those "homeless" have been coming there all that time. This isn't helping out, it's enabling shiftless people to get by at someone else's expense.
Butter and cheese sandwich’s for me too.
Too tired at night but to warm up some soup.

Tax Serf For Life

That’s what I got. $49.99 TracPhone from evil Wal-Mart, 5 cents a minute for life, anywhere, anyplace, anybody
Welfare recipients don't get food stamps and stuff any more. It hurt their self esteem. They get prepaid debit cards. They can buy anything they want with their support checks. Computers, TV's, Internet access, cell phones. There's no regulation. It's all free, free, free. Everything they want is paid for.
This is why they have no reason to look for a job.
Donated by the taxpayers. The Obama's are tightwads when they use their own money.
I’ve seen numerous TV ads touting this outrageous government giveaway.
I ordered mine online from Tracfone. Free shipping. It’s my favorite kind of phone too. It never rings.
I plugged in my zip code at that site and all I got was this lousy message: "Were sorry, but SafeLink Wireless does not currently offer Lifeline Service in your area. We are currently offering service in parts of Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, Massachusetts, Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia with plans to begin offering service soon in the States listed below.
Alabama
D. of Columbia
Connecticut
New Hampshire
Delaware
North Carolina"
Our tax dollars at work.
All the people who lean left are. They demand the right to everyone elses paycheck, but by golly don't even try to take a penny of theirs! (Charity and giving are right wing.)
