Statement by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence
Director of National Intelligence Dennis C. Blair announced today that Ambassador Charles W. Freeman Jr. has requested that his selection to be Chairman of the National Intelligence Council not proceed. Director Blair accepted Ambassador Freeman's decision with regret.

I don’t know anything about Chas Freeman, but I want Obama to fail. So any time one of his people is forced to withdraw, I find it a good thing.

Very interesting. This sounds like AIPAC and others got to the WH and pressured Obama to surrender. I have no doubt that Freeman’s support came from the WH and Susan Rice.

The people I know who work with Arab governments think Susan Rice is anti-Arab. Why would she support this Freeman guy?

Such folk, whether they represent a veterans’ “Bonus Army” or a “student uprising” on behalf of “the goddess of democracy” should expect to be displaced with despatch from the ground they occupy.
I cannot conceive of any American government behaving with the ill-conceived restraint that the Zhao Ziyang administration did in China, allowing students to occupy zones that are the equivalent of the Washington National Mall and Times Square, combined. while shutting down much of the Chinese government’s normal operations.
