No doubt. I witnessed the same type of response when Clinton was president. I don’t think much of him as a man or an elected official, but he was my Commander in Chief, whether I liked it or not.
The Bushes on the other hand, were my Presidents and Commanders in Chief.
And Reagan ruled the ROOST!

I saw Bush 1 in 85, Clinton in 94 in person, and have seen Bush II, in a lot of video, meeting with troops.
Not once did they play “Hail to the Chief” when they walked in.
Barry is so full of himself.

Seeing that, do you believe that if Obama ordered US troops to fire on civilians, even an armed uprising, they would do it?
What if GWB himself was front and center? Or just a bunch of half-uniformed veterans with flags?

"Parade rest" (Legs apart, hands folded behind your back) is different than "At ease". At PR you still cannot move, you're just not standing up straight.
That is unless it's changed since 1988 when I got out of the military.

I think you're wrong. Why would the Obamanistas require them to be called to attention? Wouldn't they want the President to get a joyous and raucous greeting? There weren't even any “Hooyas” during the speech, but there was polite clapping.

Obama is all about himself and anyone can sense that- what’s with the musical entrance and exit?

You are correct. I should have written “at ease”.

It appears that the Marines greeting President Bush were in the position of parade rest, which means they can react the way they did. parade rest you can do nothing except be called to atten In the President Obama clip, they were in the position of attention, which means they cant react. Unless it has changed since my time, at parade rest you can not move unless called to attention, at attention you can be called speak when spoken to and salute and other specefic things and be called to parade rest or at ease, they must have been at ease to react. Has that changed for your Navy? Just curious.

You’re right. I fouled that up and should have said at ease.
