Although the self-righteous politicians in the nation's swamp condemn the S.E.C. for failing to uncover Bernie Madoff's Ponzi scheme, the unfortunate reality is that regulatory and law enforcement agencies are loath to investigate the politically connected, and it appears that Madoff had bought himself plenty of protection. You don't think campaign contributions can buy a politician to run interference? Congressman Rangel -- one of those recieving Madoff funds -- attempted to derail the federal racketeering prosecution of plaintiff class action firm Milberg Weiss Bershad & Schulman LLP with the help of some of his friends on the Hill. Although the Congressman's efforts ultimately were unsuccessful -- several of the firm's partners were convicted on felony charges and the firm itself paid a $75 million fine -- the case demonstrates the extent to which elected politicians will interfere with the orderly administration of justice to protect their campaign donors. Curiously, Mel Weiss, one of the convicted partners, was an investor in the Madoff funds.

I’ll say, the stench from DC is a huge stink these days. Like a great garbage heap.
Charles Schumer tops the donor list of Madoff and his family, at $29,300.
He’s still comfortably ensconced in his $7 million apartment in NYC. Undoubtedly with taxpayer-funded guards and security monitoring.
And his attorney just petitioned to allow him to keep his apartment and some other goodies on the grounds that the money used to buy them really didn’t come from fraud.
I believe him. /s
Time for these senators to pay it all back.
(Can’t link to site...) Please God, let them all be dems...
America is being held hostage by a bunch of criminals.
Starting with the CIC(Criminal In Chief)and his enforcer Rahm.
They need to be rounded up, impeached and prosecuted.
Always follow the money.
Trouble is, the media can be bought off just as easily as politicians.
Why, you’re accusing Charlie Rangel of doing something dishonest...for money??? Impossible. Call him at one of his 4, 5, 6, 7 rent controlled apartments for a comment!
And that's just the visible contributions. How often are politicians and/or their families invited to parties, invited to trips, tipped off on investment opportunities, etc, etc, by people who want the politicians to owe them favors?
And he paid Shumer very well - anyone wonder why the MSM isn’t covering this story? It’s a natural Florida story...

Thanks for posting the list.
The Madoffs should have to sell EVERYTHING they own until they repay everyone what they stole from them . . . and then, they should have to buy a house in Levittown, PA and live like normal people. I’m betting they’d take a jail sentence rather than have to actually clean their own toilets and cook their own food.
I just don’t have time for people like them . . . hang the lot of them. Ponzi Schemes. Pyramid schemes. When will the public grow up and realize there is no such thing as a ‘free lunch’ or an ‘unbelievable’ return on an investment.
