Rove also flatly states he believes it is entirely possible for Republicans to rebuild a winning electoral majority within 4-8 years.

I'd love to know how.

I wonder if he bases that statement on Michael Steele’s comments of Rush Limbaugh’s speech to CPAC.

It is doable. But at present, it won’t happen because of the GOP. it will happen because the Democrats are taking too much away from everyone. With Steele at the helm, the GOP will likely take the next step from Republicans backing into power again to taking it forcefully.

Little history folks; guess who ran the House from 1954-1995 (a short 41 YEARS!). Hint, the democrats. During the same period, 1954-1995, the democrats held the Senate 80.95% of the time, often with very and I mean VERY wide margins.

So, for those of you who think it’s just a matter of “getting the Congress back” when the democrats crank up the treasury printing presses, you’d better think again. The republican party may be back in the wilderness for decades.

Personally, I don’t think we’re going to get the House back anytime soon and the Senate looks just a daunting. Why? Let’s just say we have a little less than inspiring leadership at the helm right now.

Unless Obama screws up massively (remember, Clinton was embattled but won a 2nd term anyway),

and

Unless the GOP nominates an inspiring candidate, and not another old white guy with white hair (remember Dole in 96 and McCain in 08),

the GOP isn’t going to win.

The RNC is still pushing big-tent-ism and leaning moderately left. That is not a winning strategy. It didn’t win in 06. It didn’t win in 08. It won’t win in 10 or 12.

The GOP brand it severely tarnished as a result of their squandered leadership, ethics problems, and open checkbook spending of the last decade. If they give the same old candidates with the same old messages and the same old policies, they are going to get the same results — losses.

I watched our great “rising star” Eric Cantor act like a squish with Hannity and Stephanopolous this week.

With weak wimpy leaders like him and Steele, we’re a long long way from regaining power.

Silly Rove, tricks are for kids.

The Reps HAVE NO LEADERSHIP and until that is solved then everything else is a pipe dream. The very fact that HUCKABEE showed up on the straw poll says that the Reps are in deep denial - as many here on FR are.

Always a pleasure to have the guy who helped spill the milk giving you the estimate of how long it's gonna take for YOU to clean it up. Would be happy to watch Rove walk off into the sunset along with Alan Greenspan and a not a few others.
