Ya know those guys who want to be cops but they can't make the grade for whatever reason? They have some kind of record, or they get weeded out as borderline during the psych-test phase, and they get a complex about it and try to get as close as they can to "the life," hanging out at cop bars, getting a flashing light for their cars, becoming sort of a cop groupie? Every once in a while, one of these guys goes 'round the bend and goes the whole route, starts impersonating, pulling people over, becomes a real problem.

That's what Janeane Garofalo reminds me of, except, instead of being a cop wannabe, she's an intellectual wannabe. She wants it so bad she'll make a fool out of herself. Thing is, about 75% of liberals are intellectual wannabees, and about 90% of people in the entertainment and media business are liberals, so she finds a lot of kinred spirits who nurture her fantasy.
