Be a good American: Pay my mortgage

Bad, bad, bad me. I'm so mean spirited. Why do I keep begrudging an immense raise in taxes to help my fellow Americans "stay in their homes"? ("Stay in their homes" is the speechwriter and MSM phrase of choice -- not "pay off debts" or even "pay for houses they bought.")

Why do I keep fretting that President Obama's wonderful "housing plan" -- which news reports say could cost "around" 75 billion -- will end up forcing abstentious, responsible people to, in effect, buy homes for irresponsible dimwits with poor impulse control who bought way more house than they could pay for?

Perhaps our sainted president is right when he assured us last Tuesday night that "it's a plan that won't help speculators or that neighbor down the street who bought a house he could never hope to afford."

If so, the MSM is doing nothing to dispel this worry of mine with its choice of Mortgage Crisis Poster Kids. Earlier this week CNN adopted its usual bathetic and childishly anti-capitalist tone tone to bring us the case of Minta Garcia, a school bus driver and mother of two who lives in...yes, the number is correct.....an $800,000 home. Good grief, if I was a CNN producer I would have scurried to find a different "distressed homeowner" for my feature. Instead, all the soppy rhetoric in the TV reporter handbook was deployed: Garcia had recently "got the letter every homeowner dreads" the CNN guy intoned, as if foreclosure proceedings are like getting hit by a meteor instead of a foreseeable process that actually unfolds quite slowly. We are never told what Garcia's husband does. Perhaps he once made lots of money and this is what emboldened the Garcia's to "get into so much house" as the jargon puts it. But the

For the record, just look at reality;

They do not yet OWN the home because they have not yet PAID for the home. Therefore, it is not THEIR home yet.

So it is dishonest for them to call the home THEIRS. They need to tell the truth that this money is meant to pay for a home they do NOT own with money they did not earn nor do they deserve.

Dang, the ideas just keep getting better and better. Thats a great bumper sticker. We have to all remember, there are allot of moderate Democrats that are angry at throwing so much money into this bailout. Their money. If they can get angry with us enough, maybe they will join us in 2010 & 2012 and throw the bums out. I was one of the original Tragan Democrats, so I know it could happen.
