In case you missed it, didn't want to watch it or could not stomach it, here is an abridged version of some of the precious lines from the speech.
9:22 - $2500 credit for tuition for families. Super, now they'll just owe 37,000 per year in tuition.
9:25 - President says nobody messes with Joe Biden. A couple of things here. Can you imagine a Fortune 500 CEO using such sophomoric slang to his Board of Directors or to shareholders. Am I'm pretty sure everyone messes with Joe Biden.
9:32 - The flow of credit is the lifeblood of the economy. I'm confused. In a campaign advertisement entitled Same Path that aired in early October 2008, candidate Obama stated unequivocally stated that trickle down economics does not work: For eight years, we've been told that the way to a stronger economy was to give huge tax breaks to corporations and the wealthiest Americans, and somehow prosperity would trickle down. Well now we know the truth. It didn't work. Instead of prosperity trickling down, pain has trickled up." Now he throws this flow of credit line at us tonight. Hmmm...lets see...credit markets are frozen..business cant get loans ..cant pay employees...go out of business..layoffs..people cant get mortages .Wait a second!!!!!!
9:33 - Nancy Pelosi is annoying for the first time (tonight). And she did so without saying a word.
9:52 - He says health care causes a bankruptcy every 30 seconds. Probably true, but I'll bet universal health care will cause a death every 30 seconds.
9:54 - Further distracted by Pelosi. What is going on with her mouth.
10:02 - How do tax cuts come in the form of a check?

What was this all about?
so tonight, I ask every American to commit to at least one year or more of higher education or career training. This can be community college or a four-year school; vocational training or an apprenticeship. But whatever the training may be, every American will need to get more than a high school diploma.
It’s so you can get a 2500 credit for tuition.
~LOL~ very good
as a history buff i was befuddled by that stupid car reference also. little known fact.... some french guy invented a “self-propelled vehicle” in 1768 or thereabouts. the hubby and i were confused by the line about “access to education in the first years of life” or similar line. do they intend to mandate school for 2 yr olds now. hey oblabo that talking baby in the trader comercial is fake dude.
I guess that I need that extra year of education that he was talking about because I thought the Germans invented the car.
Millions and millions of successful business owners and entrepreneurs prove you wrong every day, Mr. Obama. But then, you've never spoken with a small business owner. As far as you're concerned, successful small business owners do not really exist and do not really employ the vast majority of Americans; they exist only insofar as they can be taxed heavily.
Ford didn't invent the car, but he did discover how to make them.
“nobody messes with Joe Biden...” Hell, Joe Biden messes with himself!
Now the “reduced by 10%” (at least) military budget will have to support the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Meaning that the real cuts are much larger than 10%. And that just in the first year.
“nobody messes with Joe Biden...” Hell, Joe Biden messes with himself!
To him, no rights exist until one turns 18. No vote, no rights. Hence, 19 and 20 year-olds are in the first years of their lives.
Forget that cradle-to-grave education plan. Most of us would be satisfied if the schools just taught the kids to read.
piglosi didn’t bother you til 9:33??
heck how come she can’t just go to wal-mart and get a decent dress
At least one that doesn’t look like a baby threw up on it.
I would agree with your statement, but my text to speech software isn’t working tonight.
