In 1978, a constitutional amendment was approved by Congress and sent to the states, which would have given DC congressional representation. At that time, the Democrats realized that they needed a constitutional amendment to accomplish this goal.

That amendment was not ratified by anywhere near the 38 states needed. But now in 2009, Democrats are saying that only a regular statute law is needed to give DC representation.

If this goal needed an amendment then, doesn’t it still need an amendment now????

Nothing in the legal status of DC as a federal district has changed between 1978 and 2009.

“Democrats Ignore Constitution”

Oh wow, that’s a first. The Democrats legislate and litigate based on how they think things “should be”, rather than the law.

Obama spilled the beans when he said a candidate for SCOTUS should be somebody with the ability to “empathize”.

I am to the point where I think the bottle can’t be put back on the genie of the Federal Government. Time to scrap it and start over.
