Majority of Military Families Do Not Want Dover Media Ban Overturned
Families United ^

Posted on 02/19/2009 7:44:45 AM PST by GILTN1stborn

On Friday, Families United for Our Troops and Their Mission distributed an e-newsletter asking you to send in your opinion on President Obama’s announcement to review overturning the 18-year ban on publishing photos of flag-draped transfer cases at Dover Air Force base. Hundreds of you wrote in to inform us on your position and we want to thank you for taking the time to share your story.

Families United for Our Troops and Their Mission represents over 60,000 military families, including Blue and Gold Star Families and veterans.

According to the respondents:

• 64% believe that the policy should not be changed; • 21% feel if the ban is overturned then the families of the fallen should determine if the media is allowed access on a case by case basis; • 12% indicated a desire to overturn the policy and allow all flag-draped caskets to be photographed

Keep the ban on. Seeing a flag-draped coffin in PERSON is bad enough. I’ve seen my share.

If 0bama reverses it, be crystal CLEAR he’s just doing so to use our military members as PROPS and PROPAGANDA for the future World War he’s planning for us all.

I loathe this man. I thought I disliked Clinton, but he’s just a sick, weird-o. 0bama is truly dangerous to us.

12% indicated a desire to overturn the policy and allow all flag-draped caskets to be photographed/guess who has not served in the armed forces and has no balls.

I can’t see any legitimate reason for the ban. What, are the flags embroidered with troop locations or other national security secrets?

I doubt Zero truly wants the ban overturned. No point in riling up the antiwar crowd when they’ve fallen silent.

Why, remove the ban - these are all Obama’s bodies now.

Hey libs,

1. It’s not a sideshow.

2. You’re not fit to even glance at these men and women who gave their lives for our country and the free world.

I believe this should be private and up to the families, & the MSM would somehow exploit it. I can see no reason why they should be allowed to film. Just like I see no reason why the Westboro wacko group should be allowed near any vets funeral.

Well, I suppose we COULD just simply quit watching tee-vee and the MSM at all. I’m ready, but now that people are addicted to the swill they broadcase, it’s going to take some guts to boycott it.

Make no mistake about it. When a war or any military ops are on, the liberal media wants to use ANYTHING (even our dead) to demoralize our military people. Nothing is more demoralizing than how the “newsmen” like to show the flag draped boxes at the airport and gleefully trumpet the numbers as they mount up. (These media mouthpieces still haven’t figured out that when the fascists take control, they’ll be the first ones that the fascists will line up and shoot the first time they cross them one iota.) The best and easiest way to ignore them is to simply leave the boob tube turned off except maybe for ten minutes at night to get the local weather news. You aren’t getting the straight of the regular news anyway for the most part.

The ban is respectful of the survivors. I don’t want my loved ones coffin gawked at. Especially by those gleeful about it.

I can’t see any legitimate reason for the ban.

Of course you wouldn't...you are...you.

Tell you what. I'll support allowing cameras to record the return of our dead soldiers at airports when cameras are allowed to record the disposal of our dead babies at Planned Parenthood dumpsters.

People are going to have to tie up phone lines in order to keep this from being overturned. The Obama administration doesn’t give a damn what military families want.

Unfortunately, this is a back-burner item considering all else that is happening. The ban will likely be overturned w/o much notice as down the slope we go.

I agree. Our troops don’t want it overtruned, that’s for sure.
