If you have been reading this blog since its inception one month ago, you know that we like to mix in a lot of sports and movie posts. Today we combine those with our top 5 sports movies of all time.
A couple of rules you should be aware of with our selection process. First, if your favorite sports movie was made in the 40s or 50s...it is not on this list. I'm going to speak the truth right now and say what a lot of people won't say, Pauly Shore would've been a 5 time Oscar winner in the 40s. For the most part the acting was terrible.
Second, being that this list is so short we decided that sports comedies would be put under a different category. So while Slapshot, Major League, and Caddyshack are some of the great movies ever made, they fall under a different list.

I saw that on classic sports as well. Its still an amazing story.
Relaz, it was a joke. But I dont think any sports movie from those times beats ot the ones on the list. And do you really think a Boston guy is going to put Pride of the Yankees in the top 5.
Dang right! I'd add Running Man, too, although the good guys lost... ;-)
I did enjoy The Natural even though I despise Redford, but the original story by Malamud ends in a real downer where the hero betrays everyone and takes a bribe to lose. I'm thinking of sending a copy to certain current Major League players.
It really is. Too bad they changed the tournament from an open division tournament to a division tournament. No More movies coming out of Indiana high school basketball.
Preposterous! Pauly Shore would have been an unfunny no-talent hack in ANY decade. Bad acting is just as widespread today as it was in the 30's, 40's and 50's. It just looks better to many people because it is in color.
Wow, that's astonishingly ignorant.

If a Southern boy can do it, so can you!
First of all, let's be real friendly here, okay? My name is Norm. Secondly, your coaching days are over.
Like I said earlier. Relax, it was a joke.
Id be thrown out of the state
True.
You know always bothered me about that movie? They tarred the coach in the name of ‘artistic license’ and made the town look like a bunch of jackasses.
Nicest people you’d ever meet. The two women I had business with there were both lifelong residents and attended Milan at the time they won the state championship.
Its one of those towns where everybody waves to you, doesn’t matter if they know you or not.
Stop me if I'm wrong but aren't jokes supposed to be funny?
Death Race 2000?
Yeah the same situation happened down in Odessa Texas when Buzz Bissinger wrote Friday Night Lights. Dont mention his name if you go down there.
Dang, ya beat me.
Eight men out, Remember the Titans, Rudy, Varsity blues & the one about UTEP winning the National championship.
Also, "Rugie's Bump".
