“Grand Prix”
Bit of a soap opera plot..but truly innovative filming for its day.
There’s a great extra w/ the expanded DVD version..apparently Enzo Ferrari was unimpressed w/ being approached by Hollywood to assist in making a racing movie..up till then most consisted of a stationary camera w/ cars whizzing by...but when he got his first look at the behind the driver / groundhugging camera angles he became so enthused he told John Frankenheimer that he could have whatever he needed to make the film.

we will need that Miracle again. You know, I've got a gut feeling that we might just get another one in next years' soccer World Cup.

there are a list of great drivers who have cameos in the fill as well ..... I think I remember Fonzio
both films, GP & the original Longest Yard were great film making ... although Altman though talented is a leftist waste of skin
.

Never seen it..but I heard Melinda Dillon of “Close Encounters” fame has a topless scene in it.

Lots of good ones on the list already...how about:
Any Given Sunday. I loved Pacino's lockerroom speech...and this was one of the first movies I saw after installing surround sound at my old house...the subwoofer had a field day!
How about Bad News Bears? (honestly, I don't remember it much anymore...just throwing it out for consideration).
Got to agree with Slapshot. And, I'd lean toward the comedy end of the spectrum with Caddyshack (does anybody else yell "Noonan" at the TV when they want to see a miss?) and Happy Gilmore (for the Bob Barker scene!).
Disagree with The Natural...come on..."if you build it, they will come"...how hokey is that? And, definitely disagree with A League of Their Own...why?...Rosie O'Donnell...say no more.

I'm a big fan of
Hard Times. I think that it was Charles Bronson's best movie. I think that it is the best fight film ever. Since it deals with unregulated, bare-knuckle fights, does it qualify as a boxing movie?
I would rate that along with The Natural as my two favorite sports films.

Oh, yes! I loved it as a kid!

Did you ever see Mystery, Alaska? I did. Never talk about your conquests in the locker room...
