Gun ownership rights are under 'stealth' attack. Hide your guns.

Gun ownership rights are under 'stealth' attack. While Congress and the public have been obsessed with the 'Spendulus Bill', three things have occurred that should make every gun owner fearful. The items are H.R. 45 introduction, confirmation of Eric Holder as Attorney General and the government medical records data base that is mandated in the stimulus bill. Let me explain.

First, H.R. 45 was filed in the House of Representatives by Rep Rush, Bobby L.[IL] on January 6, 2009. This bill will impose severe restrictions for licensing on gun ownership. This anti gun bill requires that all new guns be licensed. The bill goes retroactive after two years. What this means is that two years after the passage of this bill, all firearms in your possession must be registered. This will not just apply to new gun purchases.

Second, Eric holder was confirmed as Attorney General. Eric Holder has a very anti gun record. He supported the District of Columbia’s handgun ban and has argued the second amendment to the Constitution does not protect an individual's right to firearm ownership. Also, Eric Holder has supported national handgun licensing and mandatory trigger locks.

Third, sections 13101 through 13434 of HR 1 will set up the infrastructure to computerize the medical records of all Americans in a government-coordinated database. This database will contain all records of medical and psychiatric treatment. This will include what drugs you have been prescribed. Why is this worrisome? Under the NICS Improvement Act, 150,000 veterans have already been unfairly stripped of their gun rights by the government. These rights were removed without a court hearing. Now, we will all be susceptible to this tactic.

The idiots that make the laws aren't going to be the ones confiscating them. They'll delegate that task to people that actually think they're defending their country.

I believe that these control freaks, and their enablers in the mainstream media, will continue advocating and attempting to enforce the infringement or suppression of our liberties until such time as they learn that their policies have very real, very personal consequences. They won't stop until the cost becomes more than they can bear.

Unfortunately, as you have observed, the first casualties will be patriots, innocents and those who are called upon to do the state's bidding.

If they try it, pick your targets and go.

LEO personnel aren’t the problem. It’s those giving the orders and writing the unConstitutional laws...

No conversing or coordinating beforehand, either. Just think of it as a "treasure hunt" of sorts. Lists will overlap, so if someone else gets there first, just move down the list. Work smart, not hard!

If it ever comes to that, and I pray it doesn’t. The idiots that make the laws in Annapolis (md) and our Capitol will not be able to hide. Way too many gun owners...hint: I wont be going out in a blaze of freedom in front of my house, I will be at the tyrants home.

Went to buy more ammo afterwards. (Out of 9mm, .22 Longs, .223) (Did have a couple of cases of knock-off 7.62 although I don’t own one)

I truly feel sorry for the LEOs that will be tasked with the undertaking of executing the flood of unconstitutional orders that will befall us. It's a hell of a thing for a good American who understands the meaning of our Constitution to be placed in such a position.

I feel sorry for them up to the point that they decide to actually perform them rather than ignore them or walk away from the job. At some point, claiming that you were just following orders ain't good enough.

If they want to try the Nuremberg “just following orders” crap, that is their decision. A better one would to side with the Constitution.

Exactly. It’s hard to generate sympathy for a man who knowingly chooses to violate the God-given rights of American citizens in exchange for a paycheck.

It happened during Katrina. No reason to think it won’t happen again.

“Indeed. And if enough people think in a similar fashion, it will be best to live on your feet!”

To moderately paraphrase Gen. Patton, “to make the other poor guy die for his beliefs.”

Illinois General Assembly - Bill HB0687: states than any person who owns a firearm in IL will be required to maintain a $1M liability insurance policy against negligent or willful acts involving their firearms. This bill further amends the Firearm Owners Identification Card Act of IL. That person shall be held responsible if the firearm is lost or stolen until a report is filed with the police and further that the Firearm owner’s ID card will be revoked if that person doesn’t provide proof to the state police that they meet the liability insurance provision.

If an owner shoots an intruder in their own home would that would be willful use of said firearm? Effective January 1, 2010

Just a step at a time. Each step making gun ownership more difficult and complex, squeezing the 2nd Amendment. 5-4 the last time out on the SCOTUS. One more liberal on the court, and 2nd Amendment rights at the federal level will surely be at risk.
