Will stimulus bill compromise lower tax rebate to $8 per week?

Will the stimulus bill compromise lower your tax rebate to $8 per week? That appears to be true. The final version has not been passed, but reports indicate the $500 per year in reduced tax withholding has been reduced to $400 per individual and $800 per couple. That only comes to $8 per week for an individual and $16 for a couple. If they start the payments in June and make it retroactive to the beginning of the year, you will get $13 per week until next January. Then, your rebate would drop to the $8 per week level. Are you felling stimulated yet? In a stimulus bill of almost $1 trillion dollars, you would think President Obama would have more for the working class. Since the final bill has not passed, this number could change. We don't know what is in the bill because the democrats broke their promise to post it online 48 hours in advance.

excellent point...in fact i would argue it could actually have an ever more negative effect. if you see that all you are getting is 8, you might well get more concerned that the govt is in deep trouble and actually contract your spending even further because of fear....

The average “Obama” voters (the ones that aren’t on welfare and are actually working) have no idea this is how the “stimulus” is going to work for them. They still believe they’re going to get some $$$ in a lump sum, like the previous incentives. You haven’t seen the MSM explaining this fact either, that the individual stimulus (what did Obama call it...tax relief for 95% of the people) will be just a drop in the bucket for most folks.

Divide $838 billion (Senate Porkulus) by 300 million (approximate US population) and you get just under $2,800.

Billions for Acorn, pennies for the rest of us.

Thanks for nothing, Obama.

Still not following how funding Acorn (or the other pork) will stimulate the economy. But it is very clear where Mr. Obammo and his Democrat accomplices have their priorities. It’s not those of us paying taxes. It’s corrupt organizations.

If Conservatives seeking office can grow a pair, what the democrats chose to fund should be the insult that the public is reminded of now through election cycles to come.

The roughly $800 per family in tax relief amortized over 52 weeks will not stimulate the economy. I have to wonder what expense employers will need to go through to make this relief happen?

I’m certainly glad to have some of my confiscated money back, especially knowing that my current administration intends to blow most of what I send to the IRS for some really stupid things.

Perhaps I’ll bank the $13/week for the next 37 years, take the $25K and pre-pay my funeral expenses (I’ll be much older by then). Change my surviving family members can believe in!

The dumb asses think they’re going to get a free house or their mortgage paid or forgiven outright. Look at the idiots at his town hall meeting. “When is my unemployment going up to match what I was making when I got laid off.” You can’t cure stupid.

If that ever happens, I'm going to find a way to get laid off! Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free.
