Some have said that the most difficult job in the world is being the prime minister of Israel. They have never been so right! As the elections are going on at this very moment, we thought we’d examine the major candidates through the tale told by the media and through the eyes of the average Israeli.

What makes this race so interesting is that the handling of last month’s Gaza War, enhanced the popular standings of both Kadima and Labor and allowed them to recoup some of their perceived losses to Netanyahu. Netanyahu’s heavy handed handling of Moshe Feiglin and his people, on the other hand, has cost him quite a bit of support within the right wing circles that might have otherwise voted for his party, further eroding his lead.

About what time (US) might we have a good idea of the winner? Any word from exit polls?

Israeli exit polls have most often been very misleading. We are not likely to know the official results until the morning hours in the US (EST)
